Chase Headley and Padres Avoid Arbitration, Agree to One-Year Deal
Headley had asked for $10.3M, the Padres countered with $7.075. After finishing 5th in the NL MVP vote, Headley was due for a significant raise. He set career highs in runs (95), hits (173), home runs (31), while leading the league with 115 RBI. He also capped off the year winning his first gold glove and silver slugger awards.
The Padres control the rights to Chase Headley through 2014.
The only remaining unsigned Padre is LHP Clayton Richard.
