Cody Decker Presents: “On Jeff Ears”

Most of us who have played some kind of sport are familiar with hazing new teammates.

It’s typically a one-shot gig: telling them the new guy has to fill the water cooler, or saying that new players have to rake the infield, or even pretending that tomorrow’s game has been moved to some other day. It’s a harmless, albeit really fun, quick gag.

But have you ever played a joke on a teammate that lasted over an entire month?

Enter an unwitting Jeff Francoeur and his loveable teammates of the Triple-A Padres affiliate, El Paso Chihuahuas.

Minor-league utility man and Anti-hero film director Cody Decker is back with a new film about the month long gag that Francoeur had to endure with his new ball club. The film centers around Decker’s teammates – and even manager Pat Murphy – reflecting on Francoeur’s reaction to relief pitcher Jorge Reyes’ being completely deaf – the only problem with Jeff’s belief is that Reyes isn’t deaf at all.

Surely, a 9-year MLB veteran and smart player like Jeff Francoeur would notice something like that?

You’d be surprised.
