DODGERS: The Padres have lost three of the first four to LA, including losing two of three in the first series vs. the Dodgers (4/8-10), in what will be 18 meetings for the two clubs this year…San Diego has won 17 of the last 31 against the Dodgers overall…at Dodger Stadium, after losing 10 of 11 from 9/1/08 to 6/9/09, the Padres have won eight of the past 14…the Padres were both 5-4 at home and on the road vs. LAD last season for a 10-8 mark, which included winning 10 of the final 15 meetings.
IT’S OBVIOUSLY THE DODGER DOGS: Brad Hawpe leads all active players (min. 120 plate appearances) with a .361 batting average (52-for-144) at Dodger Stadium...it’s the second best mark for a player at Dodger stadium all-time, only behind Roberto Clemente’s .377 (120-for-318) average here (min. 120 PA)…he’s hit 10 homers and collected 32 RBI in LA…Orlando Hudson is tied for ninth among active Major League players with a .305 clip (105-for-344) at Dodger Stadium.
CLOSE CALLS: A total of 12 of the Padres’ first 26 games have been decided by two runs or less with San Diego posting a 5-7 record…SD has played seven one-run games, going 2-5 in those contests.
