Daily Farm Round-Up: 4-10-13

The Lake Elsinore lineup managed to bang out 5 home runs, but the pitching was not able to hold up its end of the bargain as the Storm lost 7-5. The lone bright spot for Lake Elsinore on the pitching side was Matt Lollis’ two solid frames. Walker Weickel made his TinCap debut tonight; he struck out 3 over 3.2 innings, but allowed 3 runs and 7 hits. In the end, the TinCaps lost 9-7 to Lancaster. For the second night in a row, the T-Pads did not play due to inclement weather. San Antonio had the day off.

Lake Elsinore Storm 5, Lancaster JetHawks 7

Jace Peterson-SS: 0-4, RBI

Cory Spangenberg-2B: 1-5, 2K

Austin Hedges-C: 1-3, BB, Run scored

Yeison Asencio-RF: 1-4, HR(2), 2RBI, Run scored

Colin Rea-SP: 2.2 IP, 5H, 4ER, 5BB, 3K, HR Allowed

Matt Lollis-RP: 2.0 IP, H, R, 0ER, BB, K

Notes: Despite home runs from Asencio, Kral, and Orr, the Storm lost 7-5 to the JetHawks. The bottom of the Storm lineup (Kral, Orr, Jankowski) performed extremely well; combined they collected 8 of the Storm’s 12 hits. Matt Lollis continues to impress coming out of the pen, even though 1 run scored over his 2 innings of work, it was unearned and his ERA sits at a perfect 0.00. The Storm are 1-5 to start the year. Sound familiar?

Fort Wayne TinCaps 7, West Michigan 9

Mallex Smith-CF: 2-5, RBI, Run scored

Maxx Tissenbaum-2B: 1-3, 2b, 2BB, Run scored

Jeremy Baltz-LF: 2-5, 2b, RBI, 2 Runs scored

Notes: Overall, there were 7 errors committed in this game; 5 by West Michigan and 2 by Fort Wayne. Unfortunately, Fort Wayne committed the most crucial error of the game; an error to begin the 5th led to 5 unearned runs for relief pitcher Tayron Guerrero. Walker Weickel did not have an excellent opening start with Fort Waybe, but he did manage to strike out 3 with less than 4 innings of work. Jeremy Baltz continues his strong start; he is hitting .348 on the year with 9 RBI.
