Daily Farm Round-Up: 4-10-15

The Missions evened their record at 1-1 following an extremely close 1-0 victory. Both the Chihuahuas and the Storm were blown out, and they too now have 1-1 records. The TinCaps are still waiting to play their first game as their first two games of the season have been postponed.

Kevin Quackenbush – RP: 1.0 IP, 0H, 0R, 0BB, 0K

Notes: After a great spring, Tommy Medica has continued to swing a hot bat with the Chihuahuas. Medica has 4 hits, 1 home run, and 5 RBI’s over the season’s first two games. Austin Hedges showed some offensive prowess with an RBI double, his first hit at the Triple-A level.

San Antonio Missions 1, Tulsa Drillers 0

Benji Gonzalez – 3B: 1-3, BB, K, Run scored

Trea Turner – SS: 0-4, 2K

Diego Goris – 2B: 1-4, K

Hunter Renfroe – RF: 0-4

Yeison Asencio – LF: 0-3

Alberth Martinez – CF: 0-2, BB, K

Colin Rea – SP: 7.0 IP, 7H, 0 R, 0BB, 6K

Brandon Alger – RP: 2.0 IP, 0H, 0R, 0BB, 2K (W, 1-0)

Notes: In a game where no player had an RBI the Missions found themselves victorious. Colin Rea was efficient all night; he threw 7 scoreless innings on just 87 pitches. The Missions lineup faced starter Julio Urias, a very promising, young prospect from the Dodgers organization. Urias showed just why he’s a top prospect with 5 scoreless innings, but the Missions found a way to prevail on just 3 hits.

Lake Elsinore Storm 2, Modesto Nuts 12

Auston Bousfield – CF: 0-3, BB, Run scored

Jose Rondon – SS: 2-4, BB, K, Run scored

Fernando Perez – 2B: 0-4, K

Gabriel Quintana – 3B: 2-4, 2RBI

Matthew Shepherd – RP: 0.2 IP, 5H, 7ER, 1BB (L, 0-1)

Notes: The Storm found themselves on the wrong side of a blowout; they were outhit 15-8 and outscored 12-2. The Storm went 1-for-10 with RISP tonight with the team’s lone hit in that department coming from Gabriel Quintana. Jose Rondon enjoyed a multi-hit game and raised his average to .375 on this young season. Zech Lemond, who was drafted in the 3rd round last year, tossed a quality start in his Storm debut.

About the author: Alex Bartlett

Three weeks after I was born, Padre legend Tony Gwynn visited my hospital and handed out teddy bears to all the newborn children, including me. I have been a Padre fan ever since. Whether SD is in the midst of an exciting playoff run, or an uneventful off-season, I love following them and I love writing about them.
