Daily Farm Round-Up: 4-11-14

For the second night in a row, the El Paso Chihuahuas were the only Padre farm team to win. Led by Cameron Maybin and Kyle Blanks offensively, as well as a strong start from Jason Lane, the Chihuahuas squeezed out a 2-1 victory.

Kyle Blanks accounted for the other RBI by the Chihuahuas; Kyle raised his average to .381 following tonight’s game. With tonight’s victory, the Chihuahuas celebrated back-to-back victories for the first time ever.

Notes: Despite the loss, Jace Peterson and Rymer Liriano were an effective 1-2 punch in the lineup. After going hitless for the first time this season yesterday, Peterson responded by reaching base safely all 4 times he went up to the plate while driving in a run. This game elevated Peterson’s average to .387 and his OBP to and even .500.

Ryan Miller – C: 0-4

Pete Kelich – SP: 4.0 IP, 6H, 3R, 1ER, 1BB, 7K (L, 0-2)

Notes: Pete Kelich got absolutely no help from the TinCaps tonight. The TinCaps committed 3 errors behind him and only scored 1 run for him. Kelich did manage to strikeout 7 batters over just 4 innings, which is hopefully something he will build off of moving forward. Franchy Cordero has now hit safely in back-to-back games for the first time as a member of the TinCaps.
