Daily Farm Round-up: 4-11-15

Tough night on the farm as the Storm collected the only victory. The Chihuahuas were blown out for the second time in as many nights, and the Missions are still waiting for an offensive spark. The TinCaps are just trying to play a game; their first 3 games this season have been postponed.

Hitting Prospect of the Day: Tommy Medica

Pitching Prospect of the Day: Colin Rea

El Paso Chihuahuas 2, Tacoma Rainiers 10

Abraham Almonte – CF: 1-4, HR(1), RBI, Run scored

Ramiro Pena – SS: 1-3, BB, Run scored

Tommy Medica – LF: 2-4

Brett Wallace – 3B: 2-3, BB

Rymer Liriano – RF: 0-4, RBI, 2K

Alex Dickerson – DH: 2-4, 2B, K

Cody Decker – 1B: 0-4

Robbie Erlin – SP: 5.0 IP, 8H, 6ER, 3BB, 4K, HR Allowed (L, 0-1)

Notes: For the second straight night, the Rainiers scored double-digit runs against the Chihuahuas. The Rainiers capitalized mainly off of starter Robbie Erlin. Historically, Erlin has been ineffective at the Triple-A level, and tonight was more of the same. Abraham Almonte laced his first home run of the year while Tommy Medica had multiple hits for the second night in a row. Alex Dickerson, who is playing at Triple-A for the first time, raised his average to .375 with a couple of hits tonight.

San Antonio Missions 2, Tulsa Drillers 4

Travis Jankowski – CF: 0-4, K

Trea Turner – SS: 0-3, BB, Run scored

Diego Goris – 2B: 1-4, HR(1), RBI, K, Run scored

Hunter Renfroe – RF: 0-4, 2K

Yeison Asencio – LF: 0-4

Casey McElroy – 3B: 0-1, 2BB

Bryan Rodriguez – SP: 5.0 IP, 9H, 3ER, 0BB, 2K (L, 0-1)

Notes: The Missions offense has been nearly nonexistent to start the season. Over the past 2 games, the Missions have combined to score 3 runs (1 earned) on 5 hits. Trea Turner is still looking for his first hit as a member of the Missions and Hunter Renfroe has been held hitless over his last 2 games. The only earned run the Missions have scored over their past 2 games came from a Diego Goris solo shot in the 1st inning of this game.

Lake Elsinore Storm 6, Modesto Nuts 5

Auston Bousfield – CF: 2-3, 2B, BB, 3 Runs scored

Jose Rondon – SS: 1-3, RBI, BB, 2K, Run scored

Fernando Perez – DH: 3-4, 2 2B, 4RBI, Run scored

Gabriel Quintana – 3B: 1-4, K

Jeremy Baltz – LF: 1-3, 2B, RBI, BB, K

Marcus Davis – 1B: 1-4, K

Ronald Herrera – SP: 6.0 IP, 5H, 2ER, 2BB, 2K (W, 1-0)

Notes: Fernando Perez was outstanding at the plate tonight. Perez is a solid prospect who was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2012 MLB draft; tonight’s game brought him to 5 RBI’s and a .400 average over the season’s first 3 games. Jose Rondon has hit safely in the first 3 games of the season and he drove in his first run of the season tonight.

Three weeks after I was born, Padre legend Tony Gwynn visited my hospital and handed out teddy bears to all the newborn children, including me. I have been a Padre fan ever since.
