Daily Farm Round-Up: 4-13-14

All 3 games on the farm were close today. The Storm were the only team to receive a victory, and they did so due to a masterful start from Joe Ross. Cory Spangenberg and Austin Hedges both had 2 hits in the Missions’ 4-3 loss while Cody Decker had a big offensive day for the Chihuahuas.

Hitting Prospect of the Day: Cody Decker

Pitching Prospect of the Day: Joe Ross

El Paso Chihuahuas 4, Reno Aces 6

Rico Noel – CF: 0-3, BB, K

Brooks Conrad – 2B: 2-4, Run scored

Alex Castellanos – LF: 1-3, BB, 2K, 2 Runs scored

Alberto Gonzales – 3B: 1-4, 2K

Brandon Kloess – SP: 5.0 IP, 6H, 4ER, 3BB, K

Notes: Cody Decker had an outstanding day at the plate as he came just a double shy of the cycle. Decker had been struggling through a slow start to the season; prior to today’s game he only had 1 RBI. Hopefully this game is a sign of things to come for him.

Notes: Cory Spangenberg has hit safely in 9 of his first 10 games this season. Spangenberg boasts a strong .317 average with a double, a triple, and 4 RBI’s. Austin Hedges enjoyed his first multi-hit game since April 3rd. Hedges has driven in 3 runs over his last 3 games and is hitting .250 over his first 32 AB’s.

Lake Elsinore Storm 3, Lancaster JetHawks 2

Alberth Martinez – CF: 2-5, Run scored

Chris Nunn – RP: 1.0 IP, H, 0R, 0BB, K (W, 1-1)
