El Paso Chihuahuas 1, Reno Aces 2

Abraham Almonte – CF: 1-4

Jake Goebbert – RF: 0-3, BB, Run scored

Tommy Medica – 1B: 0-4, 3K

Brett Wallace – 3B: 1-3, BB

Nick Vincent – RP: 1.0 IP, 3H, 1ER, 0BB, 1K

Notes: Nick Vincent made his first appearance since being sent down to the Chihuahuas. Vincent wasn’t terrible, but he didn’t do great either. Austin Hedges drove in his 5th run of the year tonight; he’s hitting .333 over his first 12 AB’s. The Chihuahuas offense struggled tonight as they were held to just 5 hits.

San Antonio Missions 5, Springfield Cardinals 2

Trea Turner – SS: 3-5

Casey McElroy – 2B: 2-5, RBI, 2K

Tayron Guerrero – RP: 1.0 IP, 1H, 0ER, 0BB, 0K (S, 1)

Notes: The Missions finally performed well offensively as the team scored 5 runs on 14 hits. Travis Jankowski and Trea Turner finally broke out as both players enjoyed 3 hit nights. Prior to tonight’s game, both Jankowski and Turner only had 1 hit. Hunter Renfroe struck out for the 7th time in 5 games tonight; Renfroe struggled with strikeouts last year with the Missions as he struck out 53 times over 224 AB’s.

Lake Elsinore Storm 3, High Desert Mavericks 4

Auston Bousfield – CF: 2-4, RBI

Jose Rondon – SS: 3-5, 2B, 2 Runs scored

Fernando Perez – 2B: 0-3, BB, K

Justin Livengood – SP: 5.1 IP, 8H, 4ER, 0BB, 5K, HR Allowed

Notes: Auston Bousfield continues to swing a hot stick to open the season. Bousfield is hitting .389 over the Storm’s first 5 games after hitting .301 over 166 AB’s with the Emeralds last year. Jose Rondon has hit safely in the first 5 games of this season. Rondon also has walked 3 times against just 3 strikeouts.

Fort Wayne TinCaps 1, Lansing Lugnuts 9

Michael Gettys – CF: 2-4, 2B, K

Josh VanMeter – 2B: 0-1, BB

Franchy Cordero – SS: 0-3, BB, 2K

Trae Santos – 1B: 0-4, K

Duanel Jones – 3B: 0-4, 2K

Jose Ruiz – C: 2-3, RBI, K

Walker Lockett – SP: 5.2 IP, 3H, 1ER, 0BB, 6K, HR Allowed

Notes: The TinCaps have now dropped their first two games of the season. Michael Gettys has hit safely in both games so far as the leadoff man for the TinCaps; last year Gettys hit .310 with a .353 OBP over 213 AB’s with the AZL Padres. Walter Lockett had a solid first start of the season. Last year, Lockett only threw 10.1 innings so look for him to dramatically increase his innings pitched this year.
