El Paso Chihuahuas 2, Reno Aces 4

Abraham Almonte – CF: 1-3, 2B, BB, K, 2 Runs scored

Ramiro Pena – SS: 1-4, RBI, K

Tommy Medica – LF: 1-4

Brett Wallace – 3B: 1-4, 2B, RBI, K

Kevin Quackenbush – RP: 2.0 IP, 0H, R, 0BB, 5K

Notes: Not a lot of offense for the Chihuahuas tonight in their 4-2 defeat. Abraham Almonte has started of the season well; he’s hit safely in 5 of 6 games with a .391 average and 1 home run with 2 RBI’s. Kevin Quackenbush was absolutely dominant out of the pen as he struck out 5 of the 6 batters he faced. Quack has made 3 appearances and has tossed 4 scoreless innings for the Chihuahuas.

San Antonio Missions 3, Springfield Cardinals 0

Travis Jankowski – CF: 1-4, Run scored

Trea Turner – SS: 1-3, BB, Run scored

Brandon Alger – RP: 1.0 IP, 0H, 0R, 1K (S, 1)

Notes: The Missions offense went just 1-for-9 with RISP tonight, but they managed to score 3 runs and take the series from the Cardinals. After a disastrous first start in which he walked 6 batters over 3 innings, Justin Hancock pitched tremendously tonight. Hancock didn’t walk a single batter over 7 scoreless innings and collected a well deserved win.

Lake Elsinore Storm 0, High Desert Mavericks 1

Auston Bousfield – CF: 1-5, K

Jose Rondon – SS: 0-3, BB, K

Fernando Perez – 2B: 0-3, 2BB

Gabriel Quintana – 3B: 0-5, 3K

Marcus Davis – 1B: 1-5

Yale Rosen – RF: 0-3, BB

Ryan Butler – SP: 6.0 IP, 8H, 0ER, 1BB, 6K

Notes: Tough game for the Storm as they were shutout over 11 innings. Ryan Butler turned in another fine start to begin this season. Over his first two starts, Butler has allowed just 1 run over 11 innings pitched. Butler performed well as a reliever last year, and those results are translating to a starting role nicely. Auston Bousfield has performed well as the leadoff hitter for the Storm; Bousfield is hitting .348 with a .483 OBP.

Fort Wayne TinCaps 4, Lansing Lugnuts 6

Michael Gettys – CF: 1-5, 2B, RBI, 2K, Run scored

Duanel Jones – 3B: 1-4, BB

Miguel Del Castillo – C: 1-4, 2K, Run scored

Thomas Dorminy – SP: 5.0 IP, 8H, 6ER, 3BB, 5K (L, 0-1)

Notes: The TinCaps are still searching for their first win as they dropped to 0-3 on the season. Right fielder Nick Torres has hit safely in all 3 games so far; Torres hit .254 with 3 home runs and 23 RBI’s over 42 games with Eugene last year and he is ranked the Padres’ 30th best prospect according to Michael Gettys drove in his first run of the season with an RBI double in the 7th. Gettys is hitting .308 over the season’s first 3 games.
