The Chihuahuas and Storm both lost games due to lack of offense while the Missions and the TinCaps enjoyed strong pitching performances in their respective victories.
Hitting Prospect of the Day: Luis Tejada
Pitching Prospect of the Day: Bryan Rodriguez
El Paso Chihuahuas 1, Tacoma Rainiers 4
Manuel Margot – CF: 0-3, BB, K

Jeremy Guthrie – SP: 5.2 IP, 4H, 3ER, 2BB, 2K (L, 0-2)
Notes: The Chihuahuas continue to struggle offensively as they only managed 4 hits in this game. 7 of the 9 players in the lineup have an average below .200, including top prospects Manuel Margot, Hunter Renfroe, and Alex Dickerson. Jeremy Guthrie delivered a much better start in his second start of the year; Guthrie has lost in both his starts, but he was an out from a quality start this time around.
San Antonio Missions 5, Springfield Cardinals 0
Nelson Ward – SS: 1-4, BB
Auston Bousfield – CF: 1-4, BB, K, Run scored
Yeison Asencio – RF: 2-4, BB, Run scored

Bryan Rodriguez – SP: 7.0 IP, 3H, 0R, 2BB, 4K (W, 1-0)
Notes: Bryan Rodriguez tossed a gem tonight and lowered his ERA to 1.54 after 2 starts. Rodriguez struggled with the Missions last year, but his first two starts this year have been very encouraging. Nick Torres played his first game in nearly a week, but turned in a 3 hit effort to pace the Missions.
Lake Elsinore Storm 1, Rancho Cucamonga Quakes 4
Franchy Cordero – CF: 2-4, K
Luis Urias – 2B: 2-4
Javier Guerra – SS: 0-4, 3K
Franmil Reyes – RF: 1-4, K

Jose Ruiz – C: 1-4, RBI, 2K
Martires Arias – SP: 6.0 IP, 2H, 3ER, 1BB, 3K (L, 0-1)
Notes: After an off day yesterday, Javier Guerra did not look any more comfortable at the plate. Guerra has been held hitless over his last 3 games and has struck out in over 50% of his AB’s this season. It’s only been 7 games, so there’s no reason to freak out, but it would sure be nice to see Guerra pick up the pace in the coming weeks.

Michael Gettys – CF: 1-4, 3B, BB, K, 2 Run scored

Luis Tejada – DH: 4-5, 2 2B, 5 RBI, K
Brett Kennedy – SP: 5.0 IP, 5H, 2ER, 2BB, 5K (W, 1-0)
Notes: Austin Allen has hit safely in all 7 games of the season and 5 of those games have resulted in multi-hit efforts. Allen is hitting a robust .680 with 1 home run and 6 RBIs. Luis Tejada had a monster day at the plate with 4 hits and 5 RBIs. Tejada has received regular playing time at Fort Wayne since 2013; he hit .293 with 4 home runs and 37 RBIs over 259 ABs with Fort Wayne last year.
