Daily Farm Round-Up: 4-16-14

Round Up Image 234

The Storm, led by a strong start from Ruben Mejia and 4 RBI’s from Duanel Jones, were the only Padres farm team to get a victory. The Chihuahuas had a hard time scoring runs while the TinCaps lost an 18 inning affair.

Hitting Prospect of the Day: Duanel Jones

Pitching Prospect of the Day: Ruben Mejia

El Paso Chihuahuas 1, Albuquerque Isotopes 3

Rico Noel – CF: 0-3, BB

Reymond Fuentes – LF: 0-3, BB, K

Jeff Francoeur – RF: 1-4

Kyle Blanks – 1B: 2-4, HR(4), RBI, K, Run scored

Brooks Conrad – 2B: 0-4

Adam Moore – C: 1-4, K

Jason Lane – SP: 6.0 IP, 8H, 2R, ER, BB, 2K (L, 2-1)

Notes: Jason Lane went out and tossed a quality start, but the Chihuahua’s offense was nowhere to be found and Lane was saddled with a tough luck loss. All 3 of Lanes starts have been quality; he’s pitched 18 innings and only allowed 2 earned runs, which equates to a stellar ERA of 1.00. Kyle Blanks launched his 4th home run of the season in this game. Blanks is hitting .316 with 9 RBI’s for El Paso.

San Antonio Missions: DNP

Lake Elsinore Storm 9, Rancho Cucamonga Quakes 5

Alberth Martinez – CF: 0-4, BB, Run scored

Corey Adamson – LF: 1-4, K, 2 Runs scored

Hunter Renfroe – RF: 3-5, 2RBI, K, Run scored

Gabriel Quintana – 3B: 3-5, RBI, 3 Runs scored

Diego Goris – 1B: 3-4, 2B, 2 Runs scored

Duanel Jones – DH: 2-5, 2B, 4RBI, 2K

Ruben Mejia – SP: 6.0 IP, 7H, 3R, ER, BB, 2K (W, 1-1)

Notes: Hunter Renfroe stayed hot at the plate; Renfroe has 6 hits, 2 home runs, and 8 RBI’s over his last 3 games. On the year Renfroe is hitting .268 over 56 AB’s with 4 home runs and 13 RBI’s. Gabriel Quintana extended his hitting streak to 7 games with a 3-hit effort tonight. Quintana is hitting .286 over his last 10 games.

Fort Wayne TinCaps 5, Burlington Bees 7

Mallex Smith – CF: 0-8, BB, K, Run scored

Ronnie Richardson – RF: 3-5, 4BB, 3 Runs scored

Dustin Peterson – 3B: 2-7, 2B, 2RBI, BB, 2K

Fernando Perez – 2B: 2-5, 2 2B, RBI

Dane Phillips – C: 2-7, 2B, BB, K, Run scored

Franchy Cordero – SS: 2-6, RBI, BB, K

Payton Baskette – SP: 5.0 IP, 6H, ER, BB, 4K

Tayron Guerrero – RP: 2.0 IP, 0H, 0R, 0BB, 2K

Ronnie Richardson – P: 1.0 IP, 3H, 2ER, BB, 0K (L, 0-1)

Notes: This was a marathon of a game that lasted 18 innings. Ronnie Richardson, who contributed by scoring 3 runs offensively and reaching base 7 times, was tagged with the loss in this one, as the TinCaps went through their entire pen and had to use Richardson on the mound as a last resort. The Bees scored in the 16th, 17th, and 18th innings, but the TinCaps hung with them till the end by scoring runs of their own in the 16th and 17th. Unfortunately, they couldn’t get anything done in the 18th. There were 8 combined errors in this game, 6 of which were committed by Fort Wayne.
