Daily Farm Round-Up: 4-17-14

The Chihuahuas and Storm both had a tough time scoring runs in their games; the two teams combined to score just 2 runs despite good pitching performances. Jason Hagerty homered for the Missions in their winning effort while the TinCaps squeaked out a victory against the Nuts.

Hitting Prospect of the Day: Jason Hagerty

Pitching Prospect of the Day: Bryan Rodriguez

El Paso Chihuahuas 1, Albuquerque Isotopes 2

Rico Noel – RF: 2-5

Cameron Maybin – CF: 1-4

Jeff Francoeur – LF: 1-4, K

Kyle Blanks – 1B: 0-3, 2K

Alex Castellanos – 3B: 1-4, HR(1), RBI, Run scored

Brooks Conrad – 2B: 2-3, 2B, BB, K

Alberto Gonzalez – SS: 2-4

Matt Branham – SP: 3.0 IP, 2H, 0R, BB, 2K

Notes: El Paso had 10 hits in this game, but only 1 run to show for largely due to the fact that they went 1-10 with RISP. Cameron Maybin recorded his first hit since April 11th. Maybin is now 2-16 with an RBI so far during his rehab assignment. Alex Castellanos’ first home run of the season accounted for the Chihuahuas’ only run scored.

San Antonio Missions 4, Midland RockHounds 1

Travis Jankowski – CF: 1-4, BB, 2 Runs scored

Bridger Hunt – 2B: 2-5, HR(1), 2RBI, Run scored

Jace Peterson – SS: 0-3, BB

Rymer Liriano – LF: 0-3, BB, K

Jason Hagerty – 1B: 2-4, HR(1), RBI, Run scored

Austin Hedges – C: 0-4, K

Devin Jones – SP: 5.0 IP, 7H, ER, 2BB, 4K (W, 2-1)

Johnny Barbato – RP: 1.0 IP, 0H, 0R, 0BB, K (S, 5)

Notes:  The Missions managed to score 4 runs despite going 0-5 with RISP. Jason Hagerty, playing in his first game of the season, smacked a solo shot for the Missions. Because he was injured for most of 2013, it was his first home run since 2012.

Lake Elsinore Storm 1, Modesto Nuts 3

Alberth Martinez – CF: 1-4, 2K

Corey Adamson – RF: 1-4, HR(2), RBI, Run scored

Hunter Renfroe –DH: 0-4, 2K

Gabriel Quintana – 3B: 0-4, 2K

Casey McElroy – 2B: 1-3, BB

Luis Domoromo – LF: 0-3

Bryan Rodriguez – SP: 6.0 IP, 4H, 3R, ER, BB, 7K (L, 0-2)

Notes: Bryan Rodriguez was saddled with the hard luck loss in this one. Rodriguez struck out 7 and only allowed 1 earned run to score over 6 innings, but 2 Storm errors contributed to 2 unearned runs, and the Storm only managed to get 1 run on 3 hits.

Fort Wayne TinCaps 6, Peoria Chiefs 5

Mallex Smith – CF: 2-4, K, Run scored

Josh VanMeter – 2B: 2-4, 2B, 2RBI, K, Run scored

Dustin Peterson – DH: 1-5, RBI, 2K

Franmil Reyes – RF: 2-2, 2B, RBI, BB, 2 Runs scored

Fernando Perez – 2B: 2-4, RBI

Franchy Cordero – SS: 0-3, RBI, 2K

Pete Kelich – SP: 6.0 IP, 5H, 3ER, 0BB, 4K

Notes: Fernando Perez now owns a 5 game hitting streak; Perez has driven in 6 runs over his past 3 games and is hitting .319 with 1 home run and 11 RBI’s on the year. Franchy Cordero’s modest 5 game hitting streak was snapped with an 0-3 performance in this game. However, he did drive in a run for the 3rd consecutive game.
