Max Fried struck out 5 over 4 innings as the TinCaps blew out the Lugnuts 17-8. Dane Phillips collected 4 hits and fell a double shy of the cycle. Lake Elsinore dropped their 3rd game in a row to the Rawhide; they’ve been outscored by 4 runs over the 3 losses. Wilfredo Boscan was the hard luck loser in the Missions defeat to the RockHounds and Brad Boxberger collected his 2nd save of the year as the T-Pads won a close game against the Grizzlies

Notes: Keyvius Sampson turned in his best start of the young season. While he wasn’t dominant, hopefully he can build on it going forward. Travis Buck collected another couple of RBI which gives him 10 over his last 5 games. Daniel Robertson’s lone hit tonight extended his hitting streak to 9 games. He’s been extremely consistent at the plate this year, and is hitting .371 over 62 AB’s.

Notes: Reymond Fuentes continues his fast start to the 2013 season; with tonight’s multi-hit game he is hitting .339 on the year. In limited playing time, A.J. Kirby-Jones has impressed; he’s hitting .450 with 6 RBI over 10 games and 20 AB’s. Wilfredo Boscan rebounded well after a less than ideal start previously. He lowered his ERA to 5.84.

Notes: Colin Rea was wildly effective tonight. While he did 1-hit the Rawhide over 5 innings, he allowed a whopping 7 walks. Lee Orr continues to be a terror at the plate; he’s hit safely in 9 of his last 10 games. Over that span, he’s hitting .472 with 3 home runs and 9 RBI. Travis Jankowski increased hit hitting streak to 8 games, and is hitting .339 on the year.

Notes: Max Fried had his worst start of the year after allowing 4 runs in 4 innings. He did, however, strike 5 batters out giving him a grand total of 18 strikeouts on the year in just 13 innings. Dane Phillips continues a hot-streak that has seen him collect at least one hit in 4 of his last 5 games. After tonight’s career game that saw him fall a double shy of the cycle, Phillips is hitting .387 with 2 home runs and 6 RBI on the year.
