Daily Farm Round-Up: 4-20-14

Both the Chihuahuas and Missions’ pitching staffs struggled tonight. Austin Hedges had a 4-hit game for the Missions, while Keyvius Sampson threw 4 solid innings for the Chihuahuas.

Hitting Prospect of the Day: Austin Hedges

Pitching Prospect of the Day: Keyvius Sampson

El Paso Chihuahuas 4 Albuquerque Isotopes 11

Rico Noel – RF: 2-5, K, Run scored

Reymond Fuentes – CF: 2-4, 3B, 3RBI, K

Daniel Robertson – 2B: 0-4, K

Kyle Blanks – 1B: 2-4, 2B, HR(5), RBI, 2K, Run scored

Keyvius Sampson – SP: 4.0 IP, 4H, ER, 3BB, 5K

Jeff Francoeur – RP: 1.0 IP, 0H, 0BB, 0R, 0K

Notes: Kyle Blanks launched his 5th home run of the year in this game. Should the Padres need bench help later in the season, Kyle will likely be first in line for a promotion. Jeff Francoeur made a rare appearance on the mound today as he threw a scoreless 8th inning for a Chihuahuas staff that had already allowed 11 runs.

San Antonio Missions: 4, Midland RockHounds 7

Travis Jankowski – CF: 0-5, BB

Jace Peterson – SS: 1-6, 2K

Rymer Liriano – LF: 2-5, BB, 2K, 2 Runs scored

Jason Hagerty – 1B: 3-5, HR(2), 2RBI, BB, Run scored

Austin Hedges – C: 4-5, HR(1), 2RBI, Run scored

Johnny Barbato – RP: 1.2 IP, 4H, 4ER, 2BB, 2K, HR Allowed (BS, 2)(L, 1-1)

Notes: The Missions lost a 12 inning affair with the RockHounds. Austin Hedges singled in the go-ahead run in the 11th, but closer Johnny Barbato endured his worst outing of the season as he blew the save in the 11th, and then lost the game in the 12th after allowing a walk-off 3-run home run.
