Zach Eflin struggled as the TinCaps were beat by top pitching prospect Taylor Guerrieri.

Tucson Padres 8, Fresno Grizzlies 6

Jaff Decker-RF: 0-4, BB, K

Travis Buck-LF: 2-5, K, Run scored

Jonathan Galvez-2B: 1-4, 2b, K, Run scored

Sean O’Sullivan-SP: 7.0 IP, 8H, 3ER, 0BB, 4K (W, 1-1)

Notes: After a dismal start to the 2013 season (3-9 record), the T-Pads have won 6 straight and have evened their record at 9-9. Sean O’Sullivan enjoyed quite the game tonight; not only did he turn in a quality start by going 7 strong innings with only 3 earned runs, he hit a grand slam that highlighted a 6 run 4th for the T-Pads. Cody Decker has endured a tumultuous season so far, but after hitting a home run and collecting 3 hits and 4 RBI tonight, hopefully he will start turning things around.

San Antonio Missions 5, Frisco RoughRiders 1

Reymond Fuentes-RF: 1-2, 2BB, 2 Runs scored

Rico Noel-CF: 0-3, BB, 2K, Run scored

Everett Williams-LF: 2-4, 2RBI, Run scored

Tommy Medica-1B: 1-2, HR(5), RBI, 2BB, Run scored

A.J. Kirby-Jones-DH: 0-3

Jose De Paula-SP: 6.0 IP, 3H, ER, 4K, HR Allowed (W, 1-2)

Josh Geer-RP: 2.0 IP, 0H, 0R, K (S, 1)

Notes: Tommy Medica continues to show good power after he hit his 5th home run in 61 AB’s. He’s hit 3 home runs over his last 10 games. Reymond Fuentes extends hit hitting streak to 6 games and is hitting .378 over his last 10 games. He’s been very consistent all year and is hitting .353 over 68 AB’s. Jose De Paula finally got rewarded for a good start; he had been the hard luck loser in his last 2 starts, and after his quality start tonight he picked up his first win of the season. He owns a 2.11 ERA over 21.1 innings on the year.

Lake Elsinore Storm: DNP

Fort Wayne TinCaps 5, Bowling Green Hot Rods 10

Mallex Smith-CF: 3-4, BB, 2 Runs scored, SB(6)

Diego Goris-3B: 2-5, 2b, 2RBI, K

Gabriel Quintana-2B: 1-3, K, Run scored

Jeremy Baltz-DH: 1-4, K, Run scored

Rodney Daal-C: 0-3, RBI, BB, K

Zach Eflin-SP: 3.1 IP, 5H, 6ER, 3BB, 2K (L, 0-2)

Diego Goris-RP: 1.0 IP, 2H, 0R

Notes: Zach Eflin turned in his worst start of the season as he allowed nearly twice as many runs as innings pitched. In an interesting twist, Diego Goris, who is primarily a position player, pitched an inning for the TinCaps and fared well. Mallex Smith turned in his second 3-hit game in a row; it gives him 4 multi-hit games in a row and has raised his average to a very respectable .346 on the year.
