Daily Farm Round-Up: 4-22-14

The whole farm lost tonight, but there were some bright spots. Hunter Renfroe hit another home run tonight for the Storm while Brooks Conrad had a 2 home run night for the Chihuahuas.

Hitting Prospect of the Day: Brooks Conrad/Hunter Renfroe

Pitching Prospect of the Day: Jeff Francoeur

El Paso Chihuahuas 9, Albuquerque Isotopes 21

Rico Noel – RF: 2-6, 4K, Run scored

Daniel Robertson – 2B: 1-4, 2B, BB, K, 2 Runs scored

Cameron Maybin – CF: 3-4, HR(1), 2RBI, BB, K, 2 Run scored

Cody Decker – 1B: 0-5, K

Jeff Francoeur – LF: 0-5, RBI, 3K

Brooks Conrad – 3B: 4-5, 2B, 2 HR(4), 3RBI, 2 Runs scored

Ruben Mejia – SP: 0.1 IP, 4H, 7ER, 3BB, K (L, 0-1)

Jeff Francoeur – RP: 1.0 IP, 0H, 0BB, 0R, 1K

Notes: Well, it was a night to forget for Ruben Mejia. In his first Triple-A performance of his career he was absolutely shelled – he now owns a 189.00 ERA at the Triple-A level. Ironically, the best pitching performance from the Chihuahuas was from Jeff Francoeur who tossed a perfect inning. Perhaps even more ironically, it was Francoeur’s 2nd perfect inning of the year. Cameron Maybin had his best performance as a Chihuahua as he had 3-hits, including a home run.

San Antonio Missions: 5, Frisco RoughRiders 7

Travis Jankowski – CF: 2-3, BB, K, 2 Runs scored

Robert Kral – DH: 1-4, 2B, 2RBI, BB, K

Jace Peterson – SS: 0-5

Rymer Liriano – LF: 2-3, 3B, RBI, BB, K, Run scored

Jason Hagerty – 1B: 0-3, BB, 2K

Austin Hedges – C: 1-3, K

Jesse Hahn – SP: 3.0 IP, 4H, 2ER, BB, K

Notes: Prior to his start tonight, Jesse Hahn had thrown 7.2 scoreless innings to open the season. Hahn wasn’t that sharp tonight, but his ERA still stands at a solid 1.69. Rymer Liriano has been getting hot as of late; he is hitting .324 over his last 10 games. Liriano has raised his average to a season high .258 with an OBP of .343.

Lake Elsinore Storm 2, Stockton Ports 6

Alberth Martinez – CF: 0-4, 2K

Corey Adamson – LF: 1-3, BB, K

Hunter Renfroe – RF: 1-2, HR(6), 2RBI, BB, Run scored

Gabriel Quintana – 3B: 0-4, 3K

John Nester – C: 2-3, 2B, Run scored

Bryan Verbitsky – SP: 3.1 IP, 3H, 2ER, 6BB, 2K, 2 HR Allowed (L, 0-1)

Notes: Hunter Renfroe continues to show off his plus power as he launched his 6th home run tonight, a 2-run shot, which leads the Padres organization. With his home run, Renfroe improved his RBI total to 20, which also leads the Padres organization. Renfroe’s 6 home runs rank 2nd in the California League, while his 20 RBI’s also rank 2nd.

Fort Wayne TinCaps 8, Great Lakes Loons 11

Ronnie Richardson – CF: 0-2, RBI, BB, Run scored

Josh VanMeter – 2B: 2-5, 2K

Dustin Peterson – 3B: 1-5, HR(1), RBI, 2K, Run scored

Franmil Reyes – DH: 1-5, K

Dane Phillips – C: 3-5, 2B, K, 2 Runs scored

Adrian De Horta – SP: 3.0 IP, 4H, 3ER, 3BB, 5K

Notes: 2013 2nd rounder Dustin Peterson smacked his first professional home run in tonight’s game. Peterson increased his hitting streak to 6 games; he has 7 RBI over his last 10 games. Dane Phillips’ days in Fort Wayne are numbered, with his 3-hit game tonight he raised his average to .409 and increased his hitting streak to 9 games. It won’t be long till we see him in Lake Elsinore.

Three weeks after I was born, Padre legend Tony Gwynn visited my hospital and handed out teddy bears to all the newborn children, including me. I have been a Padre fan ever since.
