Round Up Image 234

The Chihuahuas were the only team to lose in the minors for the Padres today. San Antonio and Fort Wayne enjoyed walk-off victories while Joe Ross dominated in the Storm’s victory.

Hitting Prospect of the Day: Rymer Liriano/Brian Bixler

Pitching Prospect of the Day: Joe Ross

El Paso Chihuahuas 3, Fresno Grizzlies 7

Rico Noel – CF: 1-5, K, Run scored

Reymond Fuentes – LF: 0-3, 2BB, Run scored

Brooks Conrad – 2B: 1-5, RBI, K, Run scored

Jeff Francoeur – RF: 1-4, RBI, K

Cody Decker – 1B: 2-3, RBI, BB, K

Tyler Greene – SS: 2-4

Branch Kloess – SP: 4.0 IP, 8H, 6ER, 1BB, 1K, HR Allowed

Tony Sipp – RP: 2.0 IP, 1H, 0R, 4K

Notes: The Chihuahuas have now lost their first 2 games in their new home stadium. It was an all around bad game for El Paso as there were no true standouts offensively, and a bad start from Branch Kloess doomed the Chihuahuas from the outset.

San Antonio Missions: 9, Frisco RoughRiders 7

Casey McElroy – 2B: 2-6, 2B, K, Run scored

Brian Bixler – SS: 4-6, HR(1), 3RBI, K, 2 Runs scored

Rymer Liriano – CF: 2-5, 3B, HR(3), 4RBI, K, 2 Runs scored

Jason Hagerty – DH: 1-4, RBI, BB, K

Austin Hedges – C: 1-4, BB, K

Yeison Asencio – RF: 2-4, BB, 2K

Devin Jones – SP: 3.0 IP, 6H, 6ER, 2BB, 1K, HR Allowed

Notes: Rymer Liriano and Brian Bixler were the offensive heroes tonight. Liriano has endured his customary slow start and his bat is now starting to finally warm up a bit as he has 2 home runs over his last 3 games. Brian Bixler ended this game with a  walk-off home run in the 10th inning.

Lake Elsinore Storm 1, Visalia Rawhide 0

Alberth Martinez – CF: 2-4, 2B, K

Stephen Carmon – SS: 0-2, BB

Diego Goris – DH: 0-3, BB, K, Run scored

Gabriel Quintana – 3B: 0-4, 2K

Luis Domoromo – LF: 1-4, 2B, K

Corey Adamson – RF: 1-3, RBI, 2K

Joe Ross – SP: 6.0 IP, 4H, 0ER, 0BB, 9K (W, 2-2)

Notes: Joe Ross tossed a gem in his best start of the year. Ross has been criticized for not striking out enough batters in the past, but so far this year he’s showing great improvement in that area. Ross has struck out over a batter per inning pitched in each of his last 4 starts, and he has 31 strikeouts over 32.1 innings pitched on the year.

Fort Wayne TinCaps 7, Great Lakes Loons 6

Mallex Smith – CF: 1-5, K

Ronnie Richardson – DH: 1-4, Run scored

Dustin Peterson – 3B: 2-5, 2B, RBI, 2K

Franmil Reyes – RF: 4-5, 3B, HR(4), RBI, BB, 3 Runs scored

Fernando Perez – 2B: 1-3, BB, K, Run scored

Dane Phillips – C: 1-4, RBI, BB, K, Run scored

Payton Baskette – SP: 4.2 IP, 6H, 5R, 3ER, 1BB, 3K

Notes: The TinCaps won in walk-off fashion in the 10th inning due to a fielder’s choice RBI from Jose Carlos Urena. Franmil Reyes had an excellent game for Fort Wayne tonight as he fell just a double short of the cycle. Reyes raised his average to .272 and drove in his 11th run of the season. Dustin Peterson has hit safely in 8 of his last 10 games, but he’s just hitting .233 over that span.
