Daily Farm Round-Up: 4-30-13

Wilfredo Boscan had a successful T-Pad debut and Tyson Ross started his rehab assignment, yet Tucson’s lack of offensive production led to a defeat. Despite a home run from Cody Decker, the Missions lost a close game 3-4. Matthew Wisler again dismantled the opposing offense; he collected the victory after throwing 6 sparkling innings. Alberth Martinez was the hero tonight for Fort Wayne; his grand slam in the bottom of the 8th led the TinCaps to victory.

Tucson Padres 0, Tacoma Rainiers 4

Daniel Robertson-CF: 0-3, BB, 3K

Dean Anna-2B: 2-4

James Darnell-LF: 1-3

Jonathan Galvez-2B: 0-3, BB, 2K

Brandon Allen-1B: 0-4, 4K

Wilfredo Boscan-SP: 5.0 IP, 3H, ER, 2BB, K

Tyson Ross-RP: 1.2 IP, 3H, 3ER, 2BB, 2K

Notes: Terrible would be an understatement when used to describe the T-Pad’s offense over the past 2 games. Over that span, the T-Pads have collected just 10 hits and 1 run while striking out 21 times. Wilfredo Boscan made his first start for Tucson and did well; he was just a victim of 0 run support. Tyson Ross started his rehab assignment with Tucson and didn’t fare well. He did manage to strike out 2 in under 2 innings, but he allowed 5 base runners over that span.

San Antonio Missions 3, Frisco RoughRiders 4

Notes: Cody Decker recorded his first hit with the Missions after being sent down to fill in for the injured Tommy Medica. Keyvius Sampson made his Missions debut tonight after also being sent down from Tucson; he fared decently well, 4 runs did cross the plate over his 4.2 innings, but only two were earned. Reymond Fuentes collected another hit tonight and kept his average at a very impressive .340 mark.

Lake Elsinore Storm 7, High Desert Mavericks 3

Notes: Every member of the Storm lineup excluding Travis Jankowski managed to collect at least 1 hit tonight. Two guys, Austin Hedges and Jace Peterson, who slumped to start the season, did especially well. Hedges smacked 2 doubles and drove in 3 to raise his average to .234. Jace Peterson also collected 2 hits; he drove in a run and is now hitting .299 on the year. Matt Wisler continues to dominate the competition; he threw a season high 6 innings and only allowed 2 base runners. He owns a 1.04 ERA after 5 starts.

Luis Tejada-1B: 0-4, K

Walker Weickel-SP: 5.1 IP, 7H, 5R, 4ER, 3BB, 2K

Notes: After going yard for the first time this season last night, Alberth Martinez hit a 2 out go ahead grand slam in the bottom of the 8th tonight to give Fort Wayne the victory. Jeremy Baltz was also productive tonight as he tallied 3 hits and drove in 2. Walker Weickel recorded a season high in innings pitched and runs allowed. He’s been so-so on the year as he owns a 4.41 ERA over 16.1 innings.
