Daily Farm Round-Up: 4-30-14

The TinCaps were the only team in the Padres organization that didn’t participate in a 1-run game today. The Chihuahuas and Missions found themselves on the wrong side of their 1-run games while the Storm got a walk-off victory in the 10th.

Hitting Prospect of the Day: Fernando Perez

Pitching Prospect of the Day: Zach Eflin

El Paso Chihuahuas 5, Fresno Grizzlies 6

Jeff Francoeur – RF: 0-4, BB, K

Brooks Conrad – 2B: 3-4, BB, Run scored

Travis Buck – LF: 0-5, 2K

Kyle Blanks – 1B: 2-4, 2B, RBI, BB, Run scored

Cody Decker – C: 0-3, BB, K

Reymond Fuentes – CF: 1-3, K, Run scored

Juan Pablo Oramas – SP: 4.2 IP, 4H, 4ER, 2BB, 5K (L, 1-1)

Notes: Kyle Blanks continues to hit well for the Chihuahuas. Blanks drove in his 16th run of the year and raised his average to .279. Juan Oramas struggled for the 3rd consecutive start. Oramas hasn’t lasted 5 innings in a start since April 14th.

San Antonio Missions 1, Frisco RoughRiders 2

Casey McElroy – 2B: 0-4, K

Brian Bixler – SS: 0-4, K

Rymer Liriano – CF: 0-2

Jason Hagerty – 1B: 0-3

Austin Hedges – C: 1-3

Yeison Asencio – RF: 1-3

Matt Wisler – SP: 5.0 IP, 4H, 1ER, 1BB, 5K

Notes: The Missions’ offensive woes continued as they could only muster 2 hits to back up a solid Matt Wisler. Wisler has a 2.10 ERA and 35 strikeouts over 6 starts and 30 innings pitched. Wisler has only walked 6 batters on the season.

Lake Elsinore Storm 4, Visalia Rawhide 3

Alberth Martinez – CF: 0-4, K

Corey Adamson – DH: 2-3, 2B, K, Run scored

Hunter Renfroe – RF: 1-5, 2K, Run scored

Gabriel Quintana – 3B: 1-5, RBI, 3K

Duanel Jones – 1B: 1-3, 2B, RBI, 2BB, K, Run scored

Luis Domoromo – LF: 2-4, K

Zach Eflin – SP: 6H, 1ER, 1BB, 6K

Notes: Zach Eflin turned in another great start in the hitter friendly California League. Eflin would have got his 4th straight victory, but the bullpen blew the lead, which led to late inning heroics from Duanel Jones. Jones doubled in Diego Goris in the 10th to give the Storm the walk-off victory and their 3rd straight 1-run victory.

Fort Wayne TinCaps 4, Great Lakes Loons 15

Ronnie Richardson – CF: 0-4, BB

Dustin Peterson – 3B: 2-4, K, Run scored

Franmil Reyes – DH: 1-4, K, Run scored

Fernando Perez – 1B: 2-4, HR(2), 3RBI, Run scored

Ryan Miller – C: 1-4, RBI, K

Franchy Cordero – SS: 0-4, K

Pete Kelich – SP: 4.0 IP, 9H, 8R, 3ER, 1BB, 1K (L, 0-3)

Notes: Pete Kelich received absolutely no help from his defense tonight. The TinCaps committed 6 errors behind him, which lead to 5 unearned runs crossing the plate. Franchy Cordero committed 3 of the errors himself, and his error total rose to 18 on the year.
