Daily Farm Round-Up: 4-7-13

If you do not include the T-Pads, the entire San Diego organization scored 6 runs today; the Colorado Rockies alone scored 9. It was extremely challenging deciding a hitting prospect of the day; the Missions, Storm and TinCaps combined for 16 hits while the primary producers on the T-Pads have long since lost their prospect status. In the end, Travis Buck garnered the honors of best hitting player of the day; no prospect deserved the honor. The Missions, Storm and TinCaps all lost due to struggling bats while the T-Pads collected their first win of the season.

Hitting Player of the Day: Travis Buck

Pitching Prospect of the Day: Matthew Andriese

Tucson Padres 9, Salt Lake Bees 1

Daniel Robertson-CF: 3-4, 2b, 2 Runs scored

Dean Anna-2B: 2-5, 2 Runs scored

Kyle Blanks-1B: 1-4, HR(1), RBI, Run scored

Travis Buck-DH: 3-5, HR(1), 4RBI, 2 Runs scored

Gregorio Petit-SS: 0-3, RBI, BB, Run scored

Cody Decker-DH: 1-5, 2b, 2K

Thad Weber-SP: 5.0 IP, 5H, ER, 5K (W, 1-0)

Brad Boxberger-RP: 2.0 IP, H, 0R, 2K (H, 1)

Notes: The T-Pads blow out the Bees and collect their first win of the season. The lineup finally produced, as 7 starters were able to collect hits. Thad Weber had an efficient 1st start to the season and Brad Boxberger had a great outing after a not so stellar performance his last time out. Kyle Blanks and Travis Buck hit their first home runs of the season.

San Antonio Missions 1, Springfield Cardinals 2

Reymond Fuentes-RF: 1-4

Rico Noel-CF: 1-4, 2b, K

Tommy Medica-1B: 2-3, RBI

Jeudy Valdez- SS: 1-3, K

Eddy Rodriguez-C: 0-3, K

Chris Bisson-2B: 0-3, K

Matthew Andriese-SP: 5.0 IP, 2H, 0ER, BB, 3K

Notes: The Missions’ bats were silenced tonight as they lost a tight pitcher’s duel 2-1. Despite the poor offensive showings by the Missions this year, Tommy Medica and Reymond Fuentes have contributed solidly. Medica is hitting .400 with a home run and 3 RBI while Fuentes has got at least 1 hit in each game and is hitting .333 with 2 RBI. After a solid season with Lake Elsinore where Matthew Andriese recorded 10 wins and a 3.58 ERA, he begins his 2013 by throwing 5 scoreless innings.

Lake Elsinore Storm 1, Rancho Cucamonga Quakes 2

Jace Peterson-SS: 0-3, BB

Cory Spangenberg-2B: 0-3, 2BB, K

Austin Hedges-C: 0-5, SB(1)

Yeison Asencio-RF: 1-5, K

Kyle Gaedele-LF: 0-3, BB, 2K

Travis Jankowski-CF: 0-2, 2BB, SB(3)

Matt Jackson-SP: 5.0 IP, 4H, ER, BB, K

Matt Lollis-RP: 1.0 IP, 0R, K

Johnny Barbato-RP: 2.0 IP, H, 0R, K

Notes: The Storm lost by 1 run for the second night in a row. After consecutive productive days offensively, Lake Elsinore only collected 5 hits. Austin Hedges has had a rough start to the season; after an 0-5 game tonight, he is hitting .071 on the season. However, he put the ball in play every at bat tonight, so hopefully that average will start shooting up. Despite an 0-3 game, Cory Spangenberg managed to get on base twice and his average is a robust .412.

Fort Wayne TinCaps 3, Great Lakes Loons 8

Corey Adamson-RF: 1-2, 2b, 3BB

Jeremy Baltz-DH: 0-4, K

Diego Goris-1B: 1-4, 3b, Run scored

Dane Phillips-C: 0-3, RBI, K

Maxx Tissenbaum-2B: 1-3

Alberth Martinez-LF: 0-4, 2K, Run scored

Zach Eflin-SP: 3.0 IP, 5H, 4R, 2ER, BB, 3K, HR Allowed (L, 0-1)

Notes: The TinCaps failed to complete the 4 game sweep of the Loons. Zach Eflin (2012 1st round supplemental pick) made his TinCap debut and, while he did allow 2 runs, the defense behind him was shaky; the TinCaps committed 3 errors tonight. After erupting for 13 runs last night, the offense could only scratch across 5 hits tonight.
