Daily Farm Round-Up: 4-9-13

Despite a 4 RBI night from Yeison Asencio, the Storm lost 13-8 to the JetHawks due to sloppy defense. Donn Roach impressed again in his 2nd start of the season; he’s only allowed 2 hits over 10 innings of work. The Missions blew out the Cardinals 11-2. The Tucson Padres and the TinCaps were postponed today due to inclement weather.

Notes: The Missions blew out the Cardinals to advance to 4-2 on the season. Donn Roach was again highly impressive; for the second start in a row he threw 5 one hit innings and collected a win. In typical Roach fashion, he induced 13 groundball outs. His ERA sits at a robust 0.90 after two starts. The offense as a whole performed well; Reymond Fuentes continues to swing a good bat. After collecting 2 hits today, Fuentes is hitting .385 on the young season. The Missions were 8-19 with RISP.

Lake Elsinore Storm 8, Lancaster JetHawks 13

Jace Peterson-SS: 2-5, 2b, RBI, Run scored

Cory Spangenberg-2B: 2-5, RBI, K, Run scored, SB(9)

Travis Jankowski-CF: 3-4, RBI, Run scored

Brandon Alger-SP: 4.1 IP, 9H, 6R, ER, BB, 2K (L, 0-1)

Notes: Despite a strong offensive performance, the Storm committed 4 errors tonight, which ultimately doomed them. Brandon Alger was the hard luck pitcher; 6 runs were scored throughout his 4.1 innings, but only 1 was earned. Austin Hedges finally had a good game with the bat; it was hit first multi-hit game of the year, and both hits went for extra bases. Cory Spangenberg stole his 9th bag of the year and is hitting .409.

Fort Wayne TinCaps: Postponed
