Daily Farm Round-Up: 5-13-13

Walker Weickel turned in an effective start for Fort Wayne as the TinCaps skate by the Dragons 5-4. The offensive struggles for Lake Elsinore continued in their loss to the Quakes; Luis Domoromo provided nearly their entire offensive output. Donn Roach was blown up in a loss to the Hooks. Roach experienced his worst start of the year. Thad Weber pitched a very good start as the T-Pads won their 3rd game in a row.

Notes: Thad Weber recorded his second straight quality start for the T-Pads; over his last 2 starts he’s thrown 13 innings and allowed just 3 earned runs. With a hit tonight, Daniel Robertson raised his hitting streak to 10 games. Tucson has been on fire lately as they have won 8 of their last 9 games. The win tonight improved their record to 20-18.

San Antonio Missions 3, Corpus Christi Hooks 13

Reymond Fuentes-RF: 2-4, K

Rico Noel-CF: 1-2, BB, K

Everett Williams-LF: 0-3, BB

Kalian Sams-DH: 0-4

Jake Blackwood-3B: 1-3, HR(3), 2RBI, Run scored

Jeudy Valdez-SS: 2-4, HR(1), RBI, K, Run scored

Donn Roach-SP: 4.0 IP, 10H, 10ER, 3BB, 3K, 3 HR Allowed

Notes: Donn Roach had an alarmingly awful start. This is the third time this year that he’s allowed 10 hits in a start. Prior to tonight’s start, Roach had not allowed a home run all year (35.1 innings), however, tonight he allowed a whopping 3 home runs and was battered around all night. After tonight’s start, Roach’s ERA skyrocketed to 5.03 over 39.1 innings.

Lake Elsinore Storm 1, Rancho Cucamonga Quakes 4

Jace Peterson-SS: 0-3, BB

Yeison Asencio-RF: 0-4, 2K

Robert Kral-C: 0-2, 2BB, 2K

Matt Lollis-RP: 2.0 IP, H, 0R, BB, K

Notes: The Storm offense disappoints for a second night in a row. Over the past 2 games, the Storm have managed to pound out just 9 hits and score 1 run. Had it not been for Luis Domoromo, the Storm would have been 1-hit and shutout. The Storm now have over twice as many losses as wins as their record fell to 12-25 with their loss tonight.

Fort Wayne TinCaps 5, Dayton Dragons 4

Corey Adamson-RF: 1-4, 2 Runs scored

Alberth Martinez-CF: 1-3

Jeremy Baltz-LF: 0-4, K

Walker Weickel continued to be solid for Fort Wayne; he’s allowed more than 3 earned run in just one of his 6 starts and his ERA sits at 3.76 over 26.1 innings.
