Daily Farm Round-Up: 5-14-13

Joe Ross threw a quality start, but the TinCaps offense couldn’t put up more than 2 runs on the board as Fort Wayne lost a pitcher’s duel. Both San Antonio and Tucson put up double digit run totals in their victories. San Antonio was led by home runs from red-hot Kalian Sams and Everett Williams, while Rene Rivera’s perfect night at the plate highlighted an impressive offensive performance by Tucson. Lake Elsinore had the day off.

After going through a rough slump, James Darnell has collected multiple hits in each of his past 2 games. The Tucson lineup on the year is hitting a whopping .290. Notes: Joe Ross turned in his first quality start of the year, yet he still received the loss after today’s game. It was, however, encouraging to see Ross strike out 7 over 6 innings pitched and bounce back from a rough start in his last contest. Following tonight’s game, Ross owns a 3-1 record with a 3.11 ERA and 31 strikeouts over 37.2 innings pitched. This loss snapped a 6 game winning streak for the TinCaps.
