Daily Farm Round-Up: 5-16-14

It was a very frustrating night in the Padres organization. The bats weren’t working across every level of the farm, which resulted in a loss for every Padres farm team.

Hitting Prospect of the Day: Corey Adamson

Pitching Prospect of the Day: Bryan Rodriguez

El Paso Chihuahuas 2, Las Vegas 51s 10

Jace Peterson – 2B: 1-3, 2B, BB, Run scored

Jonathan Galvez – 3B: 2-4, K

Jake Goebbert – LF: 1-4, K

Jeff Francoeur – RF: 1-4, RBI, K

Adam Moore – C: 1-3, RBI, K

Rico Noel – CF: 1-3, BB

Matt Wisler – SP: 5.0 IP, 9H, 5ER, 0BB, 3K, HR Allowed (L, 0-2)

Notes: Ironically, tonight was Matt Wisler’s best start with the Chihuahuas. Wisler has struggled mightily since being promoted to the Triple-A level. The only bright side is that Wisler has struck out 11 over 11.1 innings pitched with the Chihuahuas.

San Antonio Missions 2, Corpus Christi Hooks 3

Reymond Fuentes – CF: 2-4

Adam Buschini – 2B: 0-2, 2BB, Run scored

Rymer Liriano – LF: 0-2, 2BB

Jason Hagerty – 1B: 1-4, RBI

Austin Hedges – DH: 1-4, 2K

Yeison Asencio – LF: 1-4, 3B

Josh Geer – SP: 6.0 IP, 10H, 2ER, 2BB, 3K (L, 1-5)

Notes: Josh Geer worked in and out of trouble all night. Geer allowed 10 hits and 12 baserunners over 6 innings, but only allowed 2 runs to go. Unfortunately for Geer, he was tagged with the loss due to an underwhelming offensive performance from the Missions. Austin Hedges singled to increase his hitting streak to 6.

Lake Elsinore Storm 3, Modesto Nuts 9

Corey Adamson – RF: 3-5, 3B, 2RBI, Run scored

Luis Domoromo – 1B: 0-5

Jeremy Baltz – LF: 2-4, RBI, K

Hunter Renfroe – CF: 0-3, BB, K

Gabriel Quintana – 3B: 1-4

John Nester – C: 1-4, 2B, K, Run scored

Bryan Rodriguez – SP: 7.0 IP, 2H, 0ER, 0BB, 10K

Cody Hebner – RP: 0.2 IP, 6H, 7ER, 2BB, K (BS, 1)(L, 2-2)

Notes: Bryan Rodriguez really couldn’t have done a better job on the mound tonight. It seemed like the 1 run of support that he got in the 5th would be all he needed, his bullpen let him down as the Nuts scored 8 runs in the 8th.  Rodriguez has been solid all year as evidenced by his 2.54 ERA, but lack of run support has left him with a 0-3 record.

Fort Wayne TinCaps 3, South Bend Silver Hawks 5

Mallex Smith – CF: 0-5, 3K

Dustin Peterson – 3B: 0-4, 2K

Fernando Perez – DH: 2-3, BB, Run scored

Franmil Reyes – RF: 1-2, 2BB, K, Run scored

Jake Bauers – 1B: 1-3, 3B, 2RBI, BB, Run scored

Henry Charles – LF: 1-4, 2B

Adrian De Horta – SP: 5.0 IP, 5H, 3ER, 4BB, 4K

Notes: It was another solid game for Fernando Perez has hit safely in 7 of his last 9 games. Perez is hitting .333 with 4 home runs and 28 RBI’s over 147 AB’s on the year. 2013 7th round draft pick Jake Bauers has enjoyed a hot start to the year. Bauers has 7 RBI’s over his last 5 games and has 14 RBI over 18 games played.
