Daily Farm Round-Up: 5-28-14

The TinCaps offense showed up in a big way today as they put 12 runs on the board. The Missions won a tight game 6-5 due to a walk off single from Jason Hagerty.

Notes: It was another good game for Jace Peterson who fell just a home run short of the cycle. Peterson, who is hitting .395 over his last 10 games, is now hitting .353 over 68 AB’s with the Chihuahuas. Keyvius Sampson has now allowed at least 5 earned runs over each of his last 3 starts. Sampson’s ERA is 5.82 over 11 starts with the Chihuahuas.

San Antonio Missions 6, NW Arkansas Naturals 5

Reymond Fuentes – CF: 1-4, K, Run scored

Austin Hedges – C: 1-4, 2B, 2RBI

Robert Kral – DH: 2-3, K, Run scored

Josh Geer – SP: 5.0 IP, 8H, 4ER, BB, 3K

Notes: The Naturals were absolutely stifled on the base paths by Austin Hedges. The Naturals attempted 3 steals tonight, and Hedges threw the runner out all 3 times. Hedges helped out with the bat as well as he drove in 2 with a double. Jason Hagerty sent the crowd home happy with a walk-off single that drove in Yeison Asencio.

Lake Elsinore Storm 2, Lancaster JetHawks 6

Corey Adamson – LF: 1-4, 2B, RBI, K

Alberth Martinez – CF: 0-4, 2K

Diego Goris – SS: 0-4, 2K

Hunter Renfroe – RF: 1-2, 2B, 2BB, Run scored

Gabriel Quintana – 3B: 0-4, RBI, K

Zach Eflin – SP: 5.0 IP, 7H, 2ER, BB, 3K (L, 5-3)

Notes: Zach Eflin pitched well tonight, but it didn’t stop him from being tagged with a loss. Eflin has been solid over his last 4 starts; he’s gone at least 5 innings with 2 or less earned runs in each of the 4 starts. Hunter Renfroe has been on fire as he is hitting .375 over his last 10 games with 4 home runs and 12 RBI.

Fort Wayne TinCaps 12, Bowling Green Hot Rods 7

Mallex Smith – CF: 2-5, BB, K, 2 Runs scored

Dustin Peterson – 3B: 1-5, RBI, BB, 2K, Run scored

Fernando Perez – 2B: 2-4, HR(6), 2RBI, BB, K, 2 Runs scored

Adrian De Horta – SP: 5.0 IP, 6H, 5ER, 3BB, 3K, HR Allowed

Notes: The TinCaps staged an improbably comeback as they entered the 7th inning losing 7-2. Over the next 2 innings the TinCaps turned that 5 run deficit into a 5 run lead due in large part to the hot bat of Jake Bauers. Bauers laced his 3rd home run of the year in the 7th inning, a 3-run shot with 2 outs. Bauers has hit safely in 8 of his last 9 games and is hitting .347 over 101 AB’s on the year.
