Daily Farm Round-Up: 5-3-14

The Missions were the only team to lose on the farm tonight. Both the Chihuahuas and the TinCaps scored 8 runs while the Storm won a close, 1-run game. Casey Kelly and Carlos Quentin made their first rehab starts.

Kevin Quackenbush – RP: 1.0 IP, 0H, 0R, 0BB, 2K

Notes: Jeff Francoeur and Cody Decker were the heart of the Chihuahua offense tonight as they combined to hit 2 home runs and drive in 5. Francoeur broke a mini slump as he had only 2 hits over his last 21 AB’s prior to this game.

San Antonio Missions 1, Corpus Christi Hooks 4

Adam Buschini – 2B: 1-5, 2B, K, Run scored

Brian Bixler – SS: 0-4, BB, 3K

Rymer Liriano – CF: 1-2, RBI, BB

Jason Hagerty – 1B: 0-4, K

Austin Hedges – C: 1-2, 2B, 2BB

Yeison Asencio – RF: 1-4, K

James Needy – SP: 4.1 IP, 5H, 3ER, 1BB, 1K

Leonel Campos – RP: 1.0 IP, 0H, 0ER, 0BB, 2K

Notes: After a miserable time in El Paso, Leonel Campos was sent down to Double-A with the Missions. Campos owned an 11.70 ERA over 10 appearances with the Chihuahuas, but he threw a perfect inning in his first game back with the Missions. Austin Hedges has now put together a modest 5 game hitting streak. Hedges now owns a .242 batting average over 91 AB’s with the Missions.

Lake Elsinore Storm 5, Inland Empire 66ers 4

Alberth Martinez – CF: 0-3, 2BB

Reynaldo Bruguera – 2B: 0-5, 3K

Carlos Quentin – LF: 0-3, K

Hunter Renfroe – RF: 1-4, 3B, BB, K, Run scored

Gabriel Quintana – 3B: 1-3, 2B, BB, K, 2 Runs scored

Diego Goris – SS: 3-3, 2B, HR(3), 4RBI, 2 Runs scored

Luis Tejada – 1B: 3-4, 2B, RBI, K

Casey Kelly – SP: 3.2 IP, 6H, 2ER, 0BB, 5K

Notes: There were a couple of notable firsts in this game as both Casey Kelly and Carlos Quentin played in their first rehab games. Kelly, who is coming off of TJ surgery, pitched into the 4th inning and struck out 5, but allowed 6 hits. Quentin failed to get a hit in his first game back, but it’s just good to know that he’s able to play. No doubt the Padres could use his bat…

Fort Wayne TinCaps 8, South Bend Silver Hawks 4

Ronnie Richardson – LF: 0-4, K, Run scored

Mallex Smith – CF: 2-3, 3B, 2BB

Fernando Perez – 2B: 2-4, K, Run scored

Adrian De Horta – SP: 4.1 IP, 4H, 1ER, 3BB, 1K

Notes: Jake Bauers has now smashed 3 hits in 3 consecutive games. Bauers hit his first 2014 home run in this game and brought his RBI total up to 7 over 7 games with the TinCaps. Fernando Perez is now on a 9 game hitting streak with 9 RBI’s over that stretch.
