Daily Farm Round-Up: 5-30-13

While there wasn’t a particular player who totally stood out in the TinCaps’ 7-4 victory, almost every member of the lineup provided production for Fort Wayne. Lake Elsinore lost their 6th in a row despite collecting 11 hits. Reliever Matt Branham provided critical relief for the Storm as starter Frank Garces lasted less than 1 inning. Tucson was blown out by the Grizzlies despite a perfect night at the plate from Logan Forsythe.

Hitting Player of the Day: Logan Forsythe

Pitching Prospect of the Day: Matt Branham

Tucson Padres 2, Fresno Grizzlies 10

Cameron Maybin-CF: 1-5, HR(1), RBI, 3K, Run scored

Logan Forsythe-SS: 3-3, 2b, 3b

Gregorio Petit-3B: 0-4, K

Cody Decker-1B: 0-3, 2K

Wilfredo Boscan-SP: 3.1 IP, 8H, 6R, 5ER, 0BB, 2K, 2 HR Allowed

Brad Brach-RP: 2.0 IP, 3H, ER, 0BB, K

Notes: It was a good night for rehabbing San Diego Padres as Cameron Maybin smacked his first home run of the year and Logan Forsythe went a perfect 3-3 and was a home run short of the cycle. Forsythe showed off his versatility by playing SS for the T-Pads; he has also played 3rd base and 2nd base in his professional career. Another two players who have received MLB experience this year, John Baker and Brad Brach, also participated in this game. Baker made his first appearance for Triple-A this year and, while he did reach base twice, he was unable to record a hit. Brad Brach continues to struggle as he allowed a run in a 3rd consecutive outing; his ERA stands at 10.13 over 4 appearances.

Lake Elsinore Storm 5, Inland Empire 66ers 8

Travis Jankowski-CF: 1-5, K

Cory Spangenberg-2B: 2-5, 3b, RBI, K, Run scored

Dennis O’Grady-RP: 2.0 IP, 4H, 5R, 4ER, 2BB, 2K (L, 1-3)

Notes: Despite outhitting the 66ers 11-9, the Storm managed to lose the game 8-5 as Storm pitchers allowed a combined 6 walks. Jace Peterson has been getting hot at the dish recently; he has recorded 8 hits over his last 4 games and is hitting .326 over his last 10 games. He has raised his average to a respectable .273. After experiencing an absolutely torrid run at the plate, Robert Kral has slumped recently. However, with a home run tonight, his 10th of the year, Kral’s slump is hopefully finished.

Fort Wayne TinCaps 7, Lansing Lugnuts 4

Mallex Smith-LF: 2-5, HR(3), RBI, 2K, Run scored

Alberth Martinez-CF: 1-5, RBI, Run scored

Maxx Tissenbaum-2B: 2-3, 2 2b, RBI, BB, Run scored

Brian Adams-DH: 1-3, 2b, K, Run scored

Javier Avenado-SP: 3.0 IP, 6H, 4ER, BB, 2 HR Allowed

Notes: The TinCaps won and scored 7 runs for the second night in a row as every TinCap starter recorded at least one hit with the exception of Stephen Carmon. Maxx Tissenbaum has recorded multiple hits in each of his last 5 hits. He has raised his average to .270 and is hitting .342 over his last 10 games.
