Daily Farm Round-Up: 5-30-14

The Chihuahuas were the only Padre farm team to fetch a victory tonight. Both the Missions and the TinCaps pitching staffs struggled while the Storm lost close game by 1.

Hitting Prospect of the Day: Dane Phillips

Pitching Prospect of the Day: Jason Lane

El Paso Chihuahuas 4, Las Vegas 51s 3

Jace Peterson – SS: 0-4

Brooks Conrad – 3B: 0-3, BB, K

Jake Goebbert – LF: 1-3, BB

Jeff Francoeur – RF: 2-4, Run scored

Cody Decker – 1B: 0-2, 2BB, K

Alex Castellanos – CF: 1-4, 2B, RBI, K, Run scored

Jason Lane – SP: 6.0 IP, 6H, 2ER, BB, 6K, HR Allowed (W, 5-4)

Notes: Jeff Francoeur continues to swing a hot bat for El Paso. Francoeur has collected multiple hits in 5 of his last 6 games and has raised his average to .279 over 204 AB’s. Jason Lane struck out at least a batter per inning for the first time this season tonight. After a highly productive April, Lane slowed down significantly in the month of May. Over 6 May starts, Lane owns a 6.27 ERA.

San Antonio Missions 4, Arkansas Travelers 8

Adam Buschini – LF: 1-4, HR(2), RBI, Run scored

Yeison Asencio – RF: 2-4, 2B, Run scored

Casey McElroy – 2B: 0-3, BB, Run scored

Rymer Liriano – CF: 0-3, BB, 2K, Run scored

Jason Hagerty – C: 2-4, 2 2B, 3RBI

Austin Hedges – DH: 0-4, 2K

John Hussey – SP: 5.0 IP, 6H, 2ER, 3BB, 2K

Notes: After a terrible start to the season, Yeison Asencio has righted the ship. Asencio, who entered May with a batting average of .200, is now hitting .262. Asencio is on an 8 game hitting streak and has 21 hits over his last 10 games. Jason Hagerty, who carried the offense tonight with 3 RBI’s, brought his RBI total up to 21 which ranks 3rd on the Missions.

Lake Elsinore Storm 3, Visalia Rawhide 4

Benji Gonzalez – 2B: 0-3, BB, Run scored

Diego Goris – SS: 2-4, 2B, RBI, 2 Runs scored

Hunter Renfroe – RF: 0-3, BB, K

Jeremy Baltz – DH: 0-4, 2K

Gabriel Quintana – 3B: 2-4, 2B, 2RBI, K

Luis Domoromo – 1B: 1-4, 2K

Bryce Morrow – SP: 5.1 IP, 5H, 2ER, 0BB, K, HR Allowed

Notes: Since being moved into the rotation, Bryce Morrow has been very effective. Morrow has gone at least 5 innings with 2 earned runs or less in each of his first 3 starts of the season. Alberth Martinez is going through quite a slump; Martinez is hitless in each of his last 3 games and is hitting .159 over his last 10 games. After hitting .306 in the month of April, Martinez is hitting .212 in the month of May.

Fort Wayne TinCaps 6, Bowling Green Hot Rods 9

Mallex Smith – CF: 1-4, BB, K

Dustin Peterson – 3B: 1-5, RBI

Fernando Perez – 2B: 1-5, 3B

Franmil Reyes – RF: 1-5, Run scored

Dane Phillips – DH: 2-4, 2B, HR(2), 2RBI, Run scored

River Stevens – SS: 2-4, RBI, Run scored

Ronald Herrera – SP: 6.2 IP, 7H, 5R, 2ER, BB, 5K

Notes: Every member of the TinCaps had at least 1 hit, but that was not enough as the bullpen coughed up the lead in the 8th, and the defense committed 3 errors. Dustin Peterson drove in a run for the 3rd straight game, which gives him 13 RBI’s over his last 8 games. Dane Phillips has hit safely in 8 of his last 10 games and is hitting .295 over 40 games with the TinCaps. Phillips proved he could handle Midwest League pitching last year after hitting .281 over 224 AB’s so it would not be surprising to see him called up to Lake Elsinore soon.
