Daily Farm Round-Up: 5-4-13

Despite the fact that starting pitcher Eddie Bonine allowed 6 walks over his 3 innings of work, the T-Pads were able to put a crooked number on the board and beat the Bees 9-3. Cody Decker had a home run and 3RBI while Matt Andriese turned in a fine start as the Missions won 6-2. Lake Elsinore and Fort Wayne had frustrating nights at the plate; the teams combined for just 9 hits and 3 runs tonight. Needless to say, neither of those teams enjoyed a victory tonight.

Hitting Prospect of the Day: Cody Decker

Pitching Prospect of the Day: Matt Andriese

Tucson Padres 9, Salt Lake Bees 3

Dean Anna-2B: 3-4, 2RBI, 2BB, K, 2 Runs scored

Daniel Robertson-RF: 1-4, RBI, BB, K, Run scored

Travis Buck-DH: 3-5, 2b, RBI, Run scored

James Darnell-1B: 2-5, RBI, 2K, 2 Runs scored

Jonathan Galvez-3B: 0-5, K

Brandon Allen-LF: 2-4, 3b, 2RBI, BB

Jaff Decker-CF: 1-3, 2BB, K, 2 Runs scored

Eddie Bonine-SP: 3.0 IP, 3H, 2ER, 6BB, 2K

Notes: James Darnell continued his hitting streak to 5 games. He’s also been quite the utility man over those 5 games; he’s played left field, 3rd base, 1st base and he has DH’d. Jonathan Galvez’s 0-5 performance tonight continues his slump at the plate. Galvez is 1-21 over his last 6 games and is 4-34 over his last 10 games. After tonight’s performance, his average sits at a mediocre .245.

San Antonio Missions 6, Corpus Christi Hooks 2

Reymond Fuentes-RF: 0-3

Rico Noel-CF: 1-4, 2b, K, Run scored

Everett Williams-LF: 1-3, BB, K, Run scored

Jeudy Valdez-2B: 2-3, 3b, Run scored

Cody Decker-DH: 1-4, HR(2), 3RBI, K, Run scored

Eddy Rodriguez-C: 1-3, HR(1), 2RBI, Run scored

Matt Andriese-SP: 5.0 IP, 3H, 2R, ER, 0BB, 2K

Notes: Coming off the heels of his worst start of the season, Matt Andriese rebounded nicely with solid 5 inning effort. He lowered his ERA to 2.32 over 6 starts (31 innings pitched). After starting the year very hot, Reymond Fuentes has found himself in a slump; he is hitless over his last 3 games and is 0-11 over that span. He’s hitting just .231 over his last 10 games. The win improved the Mission’s record to 15-14 on the year.

Lake Elsinore Storm 2, Inland Empire 66ers 6

Jace Peterson-SS: 1-4, 3b, Run scored

Travis Jankowski-CF: 0-3, K

Cory Spangenberg-2B: 1-3, BB, K

Lee Orr-1B: 0-4, K

Luis Domoromo-DH: 0-4

Kyle Gaedele-LF: 1-2, HR(4), RBI, BB, Run scored

Yeison Asencio-RF: 2-4, RBI

Matt Jackson-SP: 5.0 IP, 7H, 6ER, 2BB, 4K (L, 0-1)

Notes: The double play combination for the Storm, Jace Peterson and Cory Spangenberg, are both hitting .290 on the year. Both have 29 hits over the course of 100 AB’s. Travis Jankowski has been battling through a major funk at the plate; over his last 10 games he is hitting .086. He has just 3 hits over 35 AB’s. His average, which was once well above .300, has plummeted to .253.

Fort Wayne TinCaps 1, Peoria 5

Alberth Martinez-DH: 0-4

Maxx Tissenbuam-2B: 0-4, K

Jeremy Baltz-LF: 1-3, BB, 2K

Dane Phillips-C: 1-3, 2b, BB

Gabriel Quintana-3B: 2-4, HR(3), RBI, Run scored

Brian Adams-CF: 0-3, K

Zach Eflin-SP: 5.0 IP, 4H, 3R, 2ER, 3BB, 2K (L, 0-3)

Notes: For the second straight start Zach Eflin went 5 innings and allowed 2 earned runs or less. Un fortunately, he has 0 wins to his credit after his two good starts and is 0-3 on the year. Eflin has been a little shaky so far this year; the 2012 first round draft pick has struggled to stay consistent as his ERA sits at 5.48 after tonight’s start. Outside of Gabriel Quintana’s home run, the lineup did nothing notable tonight besides commit 3 errors.
