Daily Farm Round-Up: 5-5-13

The T-Pads were the lone affiliate to win tonight. Robbie Erlin’s strong start combined with home runs from Allen and Buck were easily enough for the T-Pads to earn the victory. Despite a 2 home run night from Kalian Sams, the Missions were unable to contain the Hooks as they lost 7-3. For the second night in a row, both Lake Elsinore and Fort Wayne were shutdown offensively as both again collected losses.

Hitting Prospect of the Day: Kalian Sams

Pitching Prospect of the Day: Robbie Erlin

Tucson Padres 6, Salt Lake Bees 1

Dean Anna-2B: 0-4, K

Daniel Robertson-RF: 1-4, 2b, BB, Run scored

Travis Buck-LF: 2-5, HR(4), 3RBI, Run scored

James Darnell-DH: 1-5, K

Jonathan Galvez-3B: 3-4, Run scored

Brandon Allen-1B: 1-5, HR(5), RBI, 2K, 2 Runs scored

Jaff Decker-CF: 2-3, 2b, RBI, BB, Run scored

Robbie Erlin-SP: 5.0 IP, 2H, 0ER, 0BB, 3K (W, 3-0)

Notes: Robbie Erlin turned in his best start of the year with 5 scoreless innings. He’s won his past 3 starts with the T-Pads. With his 3-hit game tonight, Jonathan Galvez doubled his hit total over the past 10 days. He is now 6-35 over that span. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come for Galvez; he has been slumping for a while. James Darnell hit safely in his 6th straight game while Allen and Buck hit their 4th and 5th home runs respectively.

San Antonio Missions 3, Corpus Christi Hooks 7

Reymond Fuentes-RF: 1-4, K

Rico Noel-CF: 0-3, BB

Everett Williams-LF: 2-4

Jeudy Valdez-2B: 0-3, K

Cody Decker-1B: 1-4, K

Kalian Sams-DH: 2-3, 2 HR(2), 3RBI, 2 Runs scored

Keyvius Sampson-SP: 4.0 IP, 4H, 3R, 2ER, BB, 2K, HR Allowed

Notes: Kalian Sams made his organizational debut tonight and exceled as he provided the entire Missions offense with 2 home runs and 3RBI. The Padres recently signed the 26-year-old Sams to a minor league contract. He previously was in the Seattle Mariners’ minor league system. Since being sent down, Keyvius Sampson has been decent; over two starts he’s thrown 8.2 innings with 4 earned runs which has earned him a 4.15 ERA.

Lake Elsinore Storm 2, Inland Empire 66ers 4

Cory Spangenberg-2B: 2-4, 3b, HR(2), RBI, 2 Runs scored

Yeison Asencio-RF: 0-4, RBI

Jace Peterson-SS: 0-4, 2K

Lee Orr-1B: 0-4, 2K

Luis Domoromo-DH: 0-4, 2K

Kyle Gaedele-LF: 1-3, K

Travis Jankowski-CF: 0-3, K

Matt Wisler-SP: 5.0 IP, 6H, 4ER, 2BB, 5K, HR Allowed (L, 2-1)

Matt Lollis-RP: 1.0 IP, 2H, 0R, BB

Notes: Cory Spangenberg collected 7 total bases over just 2 hits as he went yard and hit a triple. Those were the only extra base hits for the Storm tonight as they collected just 4 total hits. The Storm changed the lineup today as Spangenberg hit leadoff and Peterson hit 3rd. Matt Wisler suffered through his worst start of the season; tonight marked the first time he allowed more than 2 runs in a single start. Unfortunately, the Storm have been nothing short of awful this year; the loss tonight brought their record down to a dismal 8-21.

Fort Wayne TinCaps 0, Peoria 1

Alberth Martinez-CF: 0-4, 2K

Maxx Tissenbuam-SS: 1-4

Jeremy Baltz-DH: 2-4

Dane Phillips-C: 0-4

Gabriel Quintana-3B: 0-3

Brian Adams-CF: 0-3, K

Ruben Mejia-SP: 5.0 IP, 4H, ER, BB, K

Notes: The TinCap offense has been shutdown over the last 2 nights. They’ve combined for 1 run and 7 hits over their last 18 innings. Despite the poor offensive performances, Jeremy Baltz has managed to collect 3 hits over the past 2 days and is hitting .382 over his last 10 games. He’s raised his average to .280 and has 4 home runs and 22 RBI on the year.
