Daily Farm Round-Up: 6-12-13

The TinCaps and the Missions played very similar games today. Both teams committed 3 errors, both teams had anemic offenses, and both teams were blown out. In stark contrast, the Storm played a very good game against the Quakes. Led by 3 hits from Travis Jankowski and a home run from Austin Hedges, the Storm won 8-2. The T-Pads lost a close game in the 12th.

Mike Wilson-CF: 2-5, RBI, BB, K

Anthony Bass-SP: 5.0 IP, 11H, 4ER, 0BB, 3K, HR Allowed

Notes: The T-Pads lost in extras, yet Tucson had numerous opportunities to win in the first 9 innings. Tucson was a dismal 1-15 with runners in scoring position. Anthony Bass continues to struggles in Triple-A. Unfortunately, this start, in which he allowed 11 hits in 5 innings, was his best start with the T-Pads. Bass’ ERA stands at 12.34 after 3 starts.

San Antonio Missions 1, Midland RockHounds 9

Rico Noel-CF: 1-4, K

Reymond Fuentes-LF: 1-1

Yeison Asencio-RF: 0-4, K

Matt Lollis-RP: 1.1 IP, 6H, 6R, 4ER, BB, K

Notes: It was a rough game for San Antonio. Despite a quality start by Jose De Paula, the Missions allowed 9 runs to score. In relief, Matt Lollis allowed 6 hits in 1.1 innings and allowed the game to get out of reach. However, it wasn’t all Lollis’ fault, the Missions committed 2 errors behind him that allowed 2 unearned runs to score. Reymond Fuentes was taken out of the game in the 1st after reaching base via a bunt and getting caught stealing.

Lake Elsinore Storm 8, Rancho Cucamonga Quakes 2

Travis Jankowski-CF: 3-5, 2b, 3 Runs scored

B.J. Guinn-2B: 2-5, 2 2b, 3RBI, K

Jace Peterson-SS: 1-3, 3b, RBI, Run scored

Robert Kral-1B: 3-4, RBI, Run scored

Huston Street-SP: 1.0 IP, 0H, 0ER, 0BB

Matt Jackson-RP: 6.0 IP, 5H, 2ER, BB, 3K (W, 4-2)

Notes: Austin Hedges has been on fire since his return from the DL. After hitting his 2nd home run of the season tonight, he raised his average to .280. Hedges has driven in 6 runs over his last 2 games. While Austin Hedges has been hot, Travis Jankowski has been even hotter; Jankowski has recorded multiple hits in 8 of his last 10 games and is hitting .475 over that span. Not only that, but Jankowski recorded his 40th stolen base of the season in tonight’s contest. Huston Street made his first rehab appearance since being placed on the DL. He threw a 1 2 3 inning.

Fort Wayne TinCaps 0, Lake County Captains 11

Mallex Smith-CF: 0-3, BB, K

Alberth Martinez-RF: 1-3, BB

Chris Burke-3B: 2-4, 2b

Bryan Rodriguez-SP: 4.2 IP, 9H, 8R, 5ER, 2BB, K, 2 HR Allowed

Michael Kelly-RP: 1.0 IP, H, 0R, K

Notes: Hugely disappointing game for the TinCaps as they were unable to produce in any facet of the game. Not only did they allow 11 runs, they were shutout and only recorded 5 hits. On top of that, they recorded 3 errors. Michael Kelly provided one of the few bright spots of the game; he threw a scoreless inning with a strikeout. Kelly is currently on a 5.2 scoreless inning streak and has a 1.42 ERA over 12.2 innings pitched with 13 K’s.
