The Chihuahuas and the Missions both earned victories due to 3-RBI games from Cody Decker and Yeison Asencio, respectively. Things did not go so well on the lower levels of the farm as both the Dust Devils and the AZL Padres lost today.

Notes: Cody Decker’s 3 RBI’s were the difference in this game; Decker has been hot as of late as he is hitting .300 with 2 home runs and 8 RBI’s over his last 10 games. Jedd Gyorko’s bat has really heated up in the past week; Gyorko is riding a 6 game hitting streak and he has 11 hits, 2 home runs, and 6 RBI’s over that span.

Notes: Colin Rea continued to be absolutely dominant this year after logging 7 scoreless innings tonight. Rea hasn’t allowed an earned run in any of his last 3 starts, and his ERA now stands at 1.06 after 11 starts and 68 innings pitched. Rea, who was drafted in the 12th round of the 2011 draft, has easily been the best pitcher this year for the Missions. For the second straight night, Yeison Asencio had a 3-hit game. Asencio is hitting .361 over his last 10 games, and .308 over 240 AB’s with the Missions this year.

Notes: Peter Van Gansen has been one of the more consistent hitters for the Dust Devils as he has hit safely in all 5 games he’s played in. Walker Lockett has been very solid in his 2 starts with the Dust Devils. In both starts Locker went 5 innings and allowed 2 runs or less; he has 11 strikeouts over his 10 innings pitched.

Notes: After going 0-for-4 in his first rehab start, Benji Gonzalez went 3-for-3 and reached base 5 times in tonight’s game. Gonzalez only played 5 games with the Missions this year before getting injured. Jhonatan Pena has gotten off to a hot start as he has 5 hits and 6 RBI’s over the season’s first 3 games.
