Daily Farm Round-Up: 6-3-13 

Justin Hancock continues to impress as the TinCaps shutout the Whitecaps. Led by Austin Hedges’ 3 RBI night, the Storm blow out the Rawhide 10-3. The T-Pad offense homers twice while Sean O’Sullivan continues to be a solid contributor for Tucson as the T-Pads win 4-2. San Antonio had the day off.

Notes: Sean O’Sullivan provided his 4th consecutive start in which he’s gone at least 6 innings. O’Sullivan has been very effective in Triple-A this year; his ERA is a respectable 3.82 after 12 starts. He’s also been a good innings eater as he averages just under 6 innings per start. Nick Vincent made his first appearance since being sent down after throwing 3 scoreless big league innings in the Padres’ victory over Toronto last Friday. Vincent threw a perfect inning and struck out 2.

Notes: Don’t look now, but the Storm are on a 5 game winning streak. The return of Austin Hedges from the DL has energized this lineup. Since returning, Hedges has gone 3-6 with 2 doubles, 3 RBI, and a walk. He has raised his average to an even .250 on the year. Jace Peterson has hit safely in 8 of his last 9 games with 6 multi-hit games over that span. He has raised his average to .284 and is hitting .395 over his last 10 games.

This was Hancock’s 8th consecutive start in which he has allowed less than 3 earned runs. Mallex Smith has hit safely in 8 of his last 9 games; he has 2 home runs and 6 RBI over that span (previous to this hot streak he had just 1 home run and 6 RBI on the year). Smith has raised his average to .272.
