Jedd Gyorko began his rehab with the Storm and did well as he went 2-3 with a double in the Storm’s 5-3 victory. Yonder Alonso also had a multi-hit night as he went 2-4; Alonso has 6 hits over his last 2 games. Matt Wisler led the Missions’ pitching staff to a shutout of the RockHounds.

Kevin Quackenbush managed to throw 2 scoreless innings, but he did allow 3 base runners in the process. Quackenbush lowered his ERA from 6.55 to 5.54. Yonder Alonso seems to be ready for big league action; over 3 games with the T-Pads Alonso is 6-11 with no strikeouts.

Notes: It looks like Cory Spangenberg has finally found his footing with the Missions. Spangenberg has collected multiple hits over his last 2 games and is hitting .343 over his last 10 games. He has raised his average to a season high .250 with the Missions. With 5 scoreless innings tonight, Matt Wisler is now on a 13 inning scoreless streak. He’s lowered his ERA from 3.86 to 3.15.

Since July 5th, he’s gone 0-16. Similarly, Jeremy Baltz is going through a cold streak of his own. He has not had a hit since his 16 game hit streak ended 4 days ago. He’s gone 0-13 since.

Phillips has hit safely in 7 of his last 8 games and is hitting .417 over his last 10 games. Maxx Tissenbaum has quietly had a solid year for the TinCaps. Tissenbaum is hitting .294 with 21 doubles over 293 AB’s with Fort Wayne.

Notes: The AquaSox’s starting pitcher, Tyler Olson, shut down the Emeralds tonight. Olson faced just 2 batters over the minimum while throwing a 1-hitter. Despite allowing 11 base runners over 5.1 innings, Erik Cabrera allowed just 2 runs. Interestingly enough, the Emeralds were playing against D.J. Peterson, the brother of Padres 2nd round pick Dustin Peterson.

Notes: The Padres’ 2nd round draft-pick Dustin Peterson ended a modest 2 game hitless streak with a double tonight. Peterson is hitting .273 over 55 AB’s with the AZL Padres. For the second straight start Cam Stewart has thrown 5 innings without allowing an earned run. Stewart lowered his ERA from 3.72 to 2.45.
