Daily Farm Round-Up: 7-4-12

Round Up Image 234The 4th of July was a great day throughout the Padres organization. Not only did the Padres sweep the D-Backs, but every single minor league affiliate won as well.

Tucson Padres 3
, Las Vegas 51’s 1
Andy Parrino-SS: 1-4, K
Daniel Robertson-CF: 1-3, BB, Run scored

Notes: The T-Pads tally another win, but not in usual fashion. Instead of the lineup lighting up the scoreboard, the pitching kept putting up 0’s all game. Boxberger and Burns have been especially effective coming out of the pen. Boxberger has 20 K’s in his last 10 appearances, and Cory Burns has 59 K’s in 48.1 innings of work.

San Antonio Missions 4, NW Arkansas Naturals 2
Jonathan Galvez-2B: 2-4, 2b, 2RBI, Run scored

Kevin Quackenbush-RP: 2.0 IP, H, R, 0ER, BB, 2K (BS, 2) (W, 3-1)
Notes: The Storm’s high powered offense provides them the victory in extras. Ironically one of the Storm’s best hitters, Justin Miller, went 0-6 in a game where the offense scored 12 runs. The offense came from a much less likely source as Eddy Rodriguez pounded 2 HR in the victory.

Fort Wayne TinCaps 8, Bowling Green Hot Rods 1

Austin Hedges-C: 1-4, 2b, RBI, K

Notes: With a hit tonight, Travis Jankowski has at least 1 hit in 5 of the 6 games he’s played in. After going through a slump, Kyle Gaedale has been hot, he’s hitting .382 in his last 10 games.

Eugene Emeralds 9, Everett AquaSox 1
Ronnie Richardson-CF: 2-4, 2b, 2RBI, 3 Runs scored
Corey Adamson-DH: 0-4, BB, K, Run scored

Justin Hancock-SP: 5.0 IP, H, 0ER, 2BB, 7K (W, 1-1)
Notes: Justin Hancock was outstanding; he threw 5.0 one hit innings, and struck out 7 in the process. 2012 picks Ronnie Richardson and Jeremy Baltz contributed most of the offense with a combined 5 RBI.

Three weeks after I was born, Padre legend Tony Gwynn visited my hospital and handed out teddy bears to all the newborn children, including me. I have been a Padre fan ever since. Whether SD is in the midst of an exciting playoff run, or an uneventful off-season, I love following them and I love writing about them.
