Both the AZL Padres and the Missions had trouble against opposing pitching as they scored a combined 3 runs. Fernando Perez and Lee Orr had great night’s offensively as they led the Emeralds and the Storm respectively to victories. James Needy and the Storm pitching staff held the Blaze to just 1 run in their 5-1 victory.

Clay Zavada made his second appearance with the Missions and threw a scoreless inning with a strikeout.

Travis Jankowski has been scuffling at the plate lately; he’s hitting just .214 with a .283 OBP over his last 10 games with just 2 extra-base hits. Despite his low OBP, he has stolen 5 bases over that span. Lee Orr started off the season at a torrid pace; he hit .378 in the month of April. However, he cooled off in the month of May as he hit just .138 over 17 May games. After enduring an injury-plagued June, Orr is looking to regain his April form. Orr’s 2 home runs tonight were his first since April.
