Daily Farm Round-Up: 8-12-13

Every team that played on the farm tonight had a W besides the Emeralds. The AZL Padres won a shootout against the AZL Dodgers due to a strong start from Pete Kelich and an outstanding day from Franmil Reyes. Max Fried started for the TinCaps; he walked 6 and struck out 6 batters over 5.1 innings pitched.

San Antonio Missions: DNP

Lake Elsinore Storm: DNP

Fort Wayne TinCaps 8, Dayton Dragons 5

Alberth Martinez-CF: 2-3, 2B, RBI, BB, 2 Runs scored

Reynaldo Bruguera-SS: 3-5, 2B, 2RBI, K, Run scored

Luis Domoromo-LF: 2-4, 2 3B, 3RBI, K, Run scored

Rodney Daal-C: 2-3, BB, K, 2 Runs scored

Max Fried-SP: 5.1 IP, 5H, 4R, 3ER, 6BB, 6K (W, 6-5)

Notes: Control problems haunt Max Fried yet again. Fried has good strikeout numbers this year, but he has walked far too many batters. Fried has a 3.54 ERA over 101.2 innings pitched and 20 starts. Luis Domoromo has gone through a rough stretch recently, but with a 2 triple and 3 RBI game tonight, hopefully he starts turning things around at the plate. Hunter Renfroe had his first hitless game as a member of the TinCaps.

Eugene Emeralds 5, Spokane Indians 0

Ronnie Richardson-CF: 1-3, BB

Michael Bass-2B: 0-3, BB

Donavan Tate-RF: 0-3, BB, K

Trae Santos-1B: 1-4, 2B, 2K

Ryan Miller-C: 2-4

Fernando Perez-3B: 0-3, BB, K

Jimmy Brasoban-SP: 4.1 IP, 5H, 5R, 4ER, 2BB, 2K, 2 HR Allowed (L, 2-3)

Tayron Guerrero-RP: 1.0 IP, 0H, 0R, 2BB, K

Notes: Really not a lot of positives to this game. The Emeralds were shutout and they only had 4 hits while committing 2 errors. Starter Jimmy Brasoban also struggled; tonight’s start was one of his worst this year. Through 4 games, Donavan Tate is hitting .083 with the Ems. It’s a small sample size, but it’s discouraging nonetheless.

AZL Padres 12, AZL Dodgers 10

Rod Boykin-CF: 1-4, K, 2 Runs scored

Josh VanMeter-SS: 1-1, RBI, 4BB, 3 Runs scored

Dustin Peterson-3B: 2-4, RBI, BB, K, 2 Runs scored

Franmil Reyes-RF: 2-4, HR(2), 4RBI, BB, K, Run scored

Jake Bauers-1B: 2-5, 2B, 2RBI, K, Run scored

Ricardo Valenzuela-C: 1-5, K, Run scored

Pete Kelich-SP: 5.0 IP, 5H, 1R, 0ER, 0BB, 8K (W, 5-1)

Notes: Franmil Reyes had one of his best games as a pro. He had 2 hits, including a 2-run home run, and 4 RBI. Reyes has hit safely in 9 of his last 10 games; he’s hitting .333 over that span with a home run and 9 RBI. Pete Kelich has now made 8 starts this year. In 6 of those starts, Kelich did not allow an earned run. The last time he allowed an earned run was on July 28th, 4 starts ago. Kelich has a 1.57 ERA over 46 innings pitched.
