Daily Farm Round-Up: 8-20-13

Round Up Image 234

The T-Pads offense continued to click while the Missions were treated to an impressive pitching performance by Matt Wisler. Both the Storm and the TinCaps won close games. The short season teams, Eugene and the AZL Padres, were the only teams to lose on the farm tonight.

Round Up Image 234

Hitting Prospect of the Day: Cory Spangenberg

Pitching Prospect of the Day: Matt Wisler

Tucson Padres 7, Sacramento River Cats 6

Reymond Fuentes-CF: 1-3, 2BB, 2K, 2 Runs scored

Dan Robertson-RF: 2-4, RBI, BB, Run scored

Dean Anna-2B: 1-4, RBI, BB, Run scored

Jonathan Galvez-LF: 2-5, 2RBI, K

Brandon Allen-DH: 1-3, HR(14), 2RBI, Run scored

Scott Moore-3B: 3-4, 2B, 2 Runs scored

Keyvius Sampson-SP: 4.0 IP, 4H, 4R, 3ER, 6BB, K

Notes: Impressively, every member of the starting T-Pads lineup had a hit for the 3rd night in a row. Following this game, Reymond Fuentes is hitting .400 over 11 games with the T-Pads. Unfortunately, Keyvius Sampson walked 6 batters for the second start in a row. Sampson’s first start with the T-Pads after being called up was impressive, but the two starts since have been very disappointing.

San Antonio Missions 3, Frisco RoughRiders 1

Rico Noel-CF: 0-3, BB

Cory Spangenberg-2B: 2-4, 2B, HR(2), RBI, K, 2 Runs scored

Tommy Medica-DH: 1-3, RBI, BB, K, Run scored

Jake Blackwood-3B: 1-4, RBI

Yeison Asencio-RF: 0-3, BB

Austin Hedges-C: 0-3, BB

Matt Wisler-SP: 5.0 IP, H, 0R, 0BB, 6K

Notes: Matt Wisler had an outstanding start. Not only did he through 5 scoreless innings with 6 strikeouts, but he did it while throwing just 53 pitches. Wisler has allowed 1 run or less in each of his last 5 starts. Over his last 10 starts he is 5-1 with a 1.67 ERA. Cory Spangenberg had one of his best nights as a Mission. Spangenberg has a miniscule .345 slugging percentage with the Missions. Hopefully his 2 extra-base hits in this game are a sign off things to come.

Lake Elsinore Storm 5, Lancaster JetHawks 4

Corey Adamson-RF: 1-4, RBI

Bridger Hunt-SS: 1-4, RBI, K

Dane Phillips-C: 1-3, BB, K, Run scored

A.J. Kirby-Jones-1B: 2-4, HR(5), 2RBI, Run scored

Jeremy Baltz-LF: 2-4, K, Run scored

Kyle Gaedele-CF: 0-3, K

Bryce Morrow-SP: 5.0 IP, 7H, 4ER, 3BB, 2K, HR Allowed (W, 3-1)

Notes: A.J. Kirby-Jones has driven in a run in 5 of his last 7 games. Over 299 AB’s between San Antonio and Lake Elsinore, Kirby-Jones has 10 home runs and 57 RBI. Dane Phillips has struggled since being promoted to Lake Elsinore. Phillips only has 3 hits over his last 7 games. He’s hitting .175 over his last 10 games and .188 overall.

Fort Wayne TinCaps 4, Great Lakes Loons 2

Mallex Smith-CF: 1-4, BB, 2K

Reynaldo Bruguera-SS: 2-5, 3B, K, Run scored

Alberth Martinez-RF: 2-4, 3B, HR(10), 2RBI, BB, Run scored

Diego Goris-1B: 2-4, HR(6), RBI, K, Run scored

Tyler Stubblefield-DH: 1-4, 3B, Run scored

Colin Rea-SP: 4.0 IP, 3H, ER, BB, 6K

Notes: Diego Goris has hit safely in 8 of his last 10 games; he’s homered in back-to-back games and drove in his 50th RBI of the year in this game. Alberth Martinez is also riding a hot streak. Martinez is hitting .306 with 2 home runs and 10 RBI over his last 10 games. His home run tonight was his 10th of the season.

Eugene Emeralds 2, Everett AquaSox 7

Ronnie Richardson-CF: 0-3, BB, K

Henry Charles-LF: 1-4, 2K

Donavan Tate-RF: 1-3, 2B, RBI, BB, K

Ryan Miller-C: 1-4, K

Fernando Perez-3B: 1-3, 2B, RBI, 2K

Edwin Moreno-DH: 0-4, K

Vladimir De La Cruz-SP: 4.1 IP, 6H, 2ER, 4BB, 6K (L, 0-2)

Notes: Donavan Tate now has an RBI in 3 of his last 4 games. Tate is hitting .265 over 34 AB’s with Eugene. Fernando Perez has really struggled with Eugene. Perez is hitting .184 over his last 10 games, and he’s hitting .209 over 172 AB’s. The only bright spot about Perez’s recent play is that he has 10 RBI over his last 10 games.

AZL Padres 1, AZL Rangers 6

Rod Boykin-CF: 1-4, 2B, 3K

Josh VanMeter-SS: 0-3, BB

Dustin Peterson-3B: 2-4, K

Franmil Reyes-RF: 1-4, K

Jose Urena-LF: 1-4, HR(9), RBI, Run scored

Jose Ruiz-C: 1-4, 3B, K

Cam Stewart-SP: 4.0 IP, 5H, 3ER, BB, 4K (L, 3-5)

Notes: Dustin Peterson’s two hits raised his average to .297 with the AZL Padres. Peterson has 46 hits over 155 AB’s. Jose Urena has now homered in back-to-back games, and he increased his hitting streak to 7. Urena is hitting .282 with 3 home runs and 9 RBI over his last 10 games.
