There were excellent pitching performances throughout the farm tonight as the Storm were the only team to allow more than 3 runs. Fort Wayne enjoyed a dominating, blowout win as they beat the Loons 10-0.

Notes: Matt Wisler turned a corner when the calendar flipped to August. Over 4 August starts, Wisler is 2-1 with a 2.55 ERA and 21 strikeouts across 24.2 innings pitched. Wisler has endured some struggles with El Paso in the vaunted PCL, but he’s only allowed more than 3 earned runs in 2 of his last 9 starts.

Notes: Leonel Campos enjoyed arguably his best start with the Missions. Campos tossed a scoreless start and recorded 8 strikeouts for the first time since July 3rd. Over his last 2 starts, Campos has struck out 15 batters over 10.1 innings pitched. Cory Spangenberg extended his hitting streak to 13 following tonight’s game. Spangenberg is hitting .341 over his last 10 games, and .335 over 239 AB’s with the Missions.

Notes: It was a rough game all around for the Storm tonight. Mallex Smith’s triple was the lone Storm extra-base hit on a night that saw the Storm collect only 4 hits. The defense wasn’t any better as the Storm committed 3 errors.

Notes: In stark contrast to the Storm game, just about everything went right for the TinCaps tonight. Led by a 2 home run performance from Fernando Perez, the TinCaps erupted for 10 runs and went 4-for-9 with RISP. Furthermore, the pitching staff only gave up 2 hits while the defense didn’t commit a single error.

Notes: Trae Santos continued his hot hitting in this contest; Santos is hitting .317 over his last 10 games with 1 home run and 14 RBI’s. Payton Baskette, who has spent most of this year struggling with the TinCaps, made his first start with the Emeralds tonight and did well. Over 2 appearances with Eugene, Baskette has tossed 6 innings without allowing a run.

Notes: Michael Gettys, the Padres 2014 2nd round draft pick, has been very impressive over his first 45 professional games. Gettys owns a .323 average with 3 home runs and 33 RBI’s over 186 AB’s. Troy Patton has now tossed 2 scoreless innings since beginning his rehab with the AZL Padres.
