Daily Farm Round-Up: 8-30-14

The Chihuahuas and Storm won tonight due to strong performances from their respective offenses. It was a different story for the Missions and the Emeralds as the two teams combined for 5 hits.

El Paso Chihuahuas 9, Salt Lake Bees 7

Jace Peterson – 2B: 2-4, BB, K, Run scored

Jonathan Galvez – DH: 2-3, 2B, 2RBI, 2BB, 2 Runs scored

Cody Decker – 1B: 2-3, 2 2B, 3RBI, BB, Run scored

Taylor Lindsey – 3B: 1-4, 2B, RBI

Matt Wisler – SP: 5.1 IP, 8H, 4ER, 3BB, 6K (W, 9-5)

Notes: Since being sent down, Jace Peterson has played 10 games with El Paso. Peterson has hit safely in all 10 games and owns a .452 average with 5 walks and 8 RBI’s over that stretch. It’s amazing what consistent playing time can do for a player. Cody Decker continued his torrid stretch with a 3 RBI night giving him 10 RBI’s over his last 10 games. Over 132 games with El Paso, Decker is hitting .263 with 26 home runs and 77 RBI’s.

San Antonio Missions 1, Corpus Christi Hooks 5

Adam Buschini – 2B: 0-3, BB, K

Diego Goris – SS: 1-4, 2B, K

Jason Hagerty – DH: 1-4, K

Alex Dickerson – RF: 0-3, BB, K

Hunter Renfroe – CF: 0-2, 2BB, K

Cody Overbeck – 1B: 1-3, HR(13) RBI, BB, K, Run scored

Zechariah Lemond – RP: 4.0 IP, 1H, 0R, 0BB, 2K

Notes: Zechariah Lemond, who was drafted in the 3rd round of this years draft, made his Double-A debut tonight with 4 scoreless innings pitched. Lemond made quite the jump as he had previously been pitching with the Emeralds. Aside from Lemond’s impressive debut, the Missions struggled as they were held to just 3 hits and committed 4 errors.

Lake Elsinore Storm 5, Rancho Cucamonga Quakes 2

Alberth Martinez – CF: 2-4, Run scored

Luis Domoromo – RF: 1-3, 2B

Matthew Shepherd – SP: 5.0 IP, 0H, 0R, 2BB, 6K (W, 6-1)

Notes: Matthew Shepherd enjoyed his best start of the year tonight, as he didn’t allow a hit over 5 innings pitched. Shepherd has now pitched 10.2 consecutive innings without allowing a run. Jose Rondon smacked his first home run of the year tonight and drove in his 35th and 36th runs. Rondon is hitting .313 over 434 AB’s in 2014 at the ripe old age of 20.

Fort Wayne TinCaps: PPD

Eugene Emeralds 0, Hillsboro Hops 1

Edwin Moreno – CF: 1-4

River Stevens – 2B: 0-4

Rodney Daal – DH: 0-4, K

Trae Santos – 1B: 0-2, BB, 2K

Joseph Epperson – 3B: 1-3, K

Travis Radke – SP: 4.0 IP, 2H, 1ER, 1BB, 7K (L, 2-3)

Notes: Despite a strong start, there was nothing Travis Radke could do to earn the victory in this one. Not only were the Emeralds shutout, but they were held to just 2 hits, both of which were singles. The Emeralds struck out a whopping 13 times and went 0-for-4 with RISP.
