Daily Farm Round-Up: 8-7-13

It was a quiet day offensively; the AZL Padres scored the most runs with 4. Jace Peterson, however, still had a productive night with a home run and 2 RBI. The Missions and the AZL Padres were the only teams to collect a victory. Both their starters performed very well.
Hitting Prospect of the Day: Jace Peterson

Jeremy McBryde-RP: 1.0 IP, 0H, 0R, 0BB, 2K (S, 11)
Notes: Outside of a horrendous start on July 12th in which he allowed 8 runs over 7 innings, Eddie Bonine has been very effective at the Double-A level this year. In his 6 other starts, Bonine has gone at least 5 innings with 2 or less earned runs. Following tonight’s game, Reymond Fuentes has drawn a walk in 5 straight games. Fuentes has an excellent .389 OBP on the year.

Notes: Jace Peterson and Dane Phillips were the only members of the Storm that had hits tonight. Peterson went yard for the 7th time in 2013 after hitting only 2 home runs in both 2011 and 2012. Dane Phillips has now hit safely in all 5 games that he’s played with the Storm.
Fort Wayne TinCaps 2, South Bend Silver Hawks 5
Mallex Smith-CF: 0-3, RBI, 2BB, 2K
Reynaldo Bruguera-2B: 2-5, 2K

Brian Adams-RF: 0-4, 3K
Matthew Shepherd-SP: 4.2 IP, 7H, 5R, 3ER, 3BB, 3K, HR Allowed
Notes: Really nothing exciting to report tonight. Until Hunter Renfroe makes his way up to Fort Wayne, the lineup lacks any top prospects. Matthew Shepherd made his 6th start of the year, and he again struggled. Shepherd still has not gone 6 innings in a single start.
