Daily Farm Round-Up: 9-7-13 

Both the Missions and the TinCaps endured losses tonight. They both played in close games as they lost by a combined 3 runs. The Missions were unable to get a clutch hit while the TinCaps endured sloppy defense which allowed 3 unearned runs to score.

Notes: For the second consecutive night the Missions’ game was decided by 1 run. This is the 3rd game in the best of 5 series in which both teams failed to score more than 2 runs. Both teams only had 5 hits, but the Missions’ struggles with RISP continued as they went 0-for-5 in that category. Juan Oramas tossed 6 scoreless innings; he hasn’t allowed a run in 4 of his last 5 starts.

Notes: Max Fried wasn’t very sharp in his first playoff start as he allowed 5 runs and 2 home runs over 4 innings. However, his defense did him no favors; 3 of the 5 runs he allowed were unearned. 1st round pick Hunter Renfroe continued to hit well in the playoffs. Following tonight’s 1-for-3 performance he is hitting .444 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI over the 3 playoff games.
