Daily Friar 12.19.12

Daily Friar Banner Rennick

Monday I posted the Daily Friar and said that I would be posting daily for the most part, at least as best as I could. Then Tuesday came around and I didn’t post one. As it turns out, it is very hard to post anything when there is pretty much nothing to report. Today is a different story altogether as there is some big news regarding the Padres to relay to you all. If you are attached to any of the rumors sites like I am then you probably already know everything that I will be posting. If not then this will be a first time for you and I hope that it doesn’t ruin your day. Basically, all the news that came out in the past couple of days is all bad in my eyes. Well, I shouldn’t say bad necessarily, but it isn’t all very good. It has come down to once again the management not wanting to spend money on the team, which is a shame in my eyes. I’ll let you all ponder the articles below:

Padres out of the race for Edwin Jackson – The Friarhood

“Padres are out on Edwin Jackson after refusing to go to 4 years….destination down to Cubs and Rangers”

Phil Mickelson is no longer part of the Padres ownership group –

‘”I think to be involved with the Padres, you have to be fully committed to the long term,” Mickelson told the newspaper. “I’ve been born and raised here, but at this moment, I’m not able to make that kind of long-term commitment to the city and to the team.”‘

The Union Tribune ranks their top 20 prospects for next year

“Infielder Jedd Gyorko heads the UT San Diego’s fourth annual list of the Padres top minor league prospects.”

Matt Bush sentenced to three years in prison – Seedlings To Stars

“Widely viewed as one of the biggest busts in draft history, Matt Bush’s legacy has been further cemented with news that the 26 year old will serve at least the next three years in prison stemming from an off field incident this past March.”
