Daily Friar 12.29.12
I am going to take a thought and try and drive down a road and see where it leads, follow along won’t you? Baseball is all about windows. Players have a window of opportunity most of the time, and stats are looked at through a certain window. Think about it, during the regular season you will always here about a player hitting at a certain average during a certain span. It’s as if whoever is pointing this out is saying forget all the other stuff, just look at this past week where he has hit .400. My point I am trying to make is that I have heard some people talk about how the Padres have the momentum to go into 2013 and contend next year. The reason being is that they finished 42-33 after the All-Star break. That’s a nice record, but let’s break that down a bit. Yes the team was hot during the second half, well at least during July and August. July they went 10-8, August was 18-10 for a combined 28-18 record for the two months. September (and the three games in October) left them with a 14-15 record for that span. So you’re telling me that 14-15 is momentum? I’m not quite sold. Enough of my rambling, let’s get to those links for today:
