Daily Friar 2.2.13

Daily Friar Banner Rennick

I had a slight unscheduled absence from the internet yesterday morning, but I am back today to catch you up on what is going on in the world of the San Diego Padres. The sad part is even though I didn’t post anything yesterday, there wasn’t much going on at all. In fact today you are getting five articles. That is five articles that encompass the past two days. This is one reason why I need your help. I have mentioned before that I have my core websites that I check each morning for Padres news, but I can miss stuff on occasion. So please, if you see any obscure article about something, send it my way over at twitter. I have my twitter account linked here as always for you to send me links. And if you contribute I will be sure to give you a shout out on here as well. So let’s get to those links for today:

Chase Headley currently not talking long-term contract – Union Tribune

“Chase Headley wants to remain a Padre ‘all things being equal,’ but said Thursday that no talks are planned about a long-term contract to remain in San Diego and said he and the club are not currently “on the same page” when it comes to a long-term contract.”

CBS Sports takes a look at the core of the Padres

“Former GM Jed Hoyer, who replaced long-time GM Kevin Towers in October 2009 before joining the Cubs last winter, helped build a deep and diverse core before handing the reigns over to former Diamondbacks GM Josh Byrnes. Those young players have started to crack the MLB roster and are pushing the Padres back toward contention.”

Padres sign Adam Buschini –

“Buschini will join San Diego for spring training and could play for their AA-class team, the San Antonio Missions.”

Time Warner Cable CEO to step down – Gaslamp Ball

“Time Warner Cable… You’re up to bat! There’s no impressing the CEO that’s losing you money! Time to make good with San Diego sports fan and carry FSSD!”

The Padres need to trade Chase Headley now! – Steve Adler of The Friarhood

“The only move that makes little to no sense is keeping Headley and watching his trade value diminish.   As the saying goes… ‘Sign him or get off the pot and trade him'”
