Daily Friar 2.6.13

Daily Friar Banner Rennick

Daily Friar is coming to you a little bit later today. From here on out it will probably be like this on Wednesdays, unless I get to it earlier. My mornings tend to be kind of busy on this day. So with that in mind let’s get down to business. FanFest is just three days away! This is a great opportunity to get back to Petco Park and take in the baseball atmosphere. There will be autograph sessions, a garage sale, panels, a clubhouse tour, and it will also be your chance to buy single game tickets (as well as ticket packages). Below we have an article that sums up everything you need to know about the day. Also at FanFest the Friarhood will be having a scavenger hunt, be sure to check back to the Facebook page or the Friarhood twitter (@friarhood) for more information on that probably later today. Again all this info can be found in the last article below. Okay, I think that is all that we need to get to, so let’s get to those articles:

More info on the PED case from Miami – Union Tribune

“The real-game clock on Grandal’s suspension starts on Opening Day. He will be taking part in Padres spring training on a limited basis, but instead of happily discussing his highly impressive rookie season and prospects for 2013, he’ll be fielding or avoiding questions in Peoria about why he’s not playing.”

2013 ZiPS projection for the Padres – Fangraphs

“Three of the Padres’ top five pitcher WAR projections belong to players who have no clear role to begin the 2013 season.”

Gaslamp Ball sums up Keith Law’s top 100 prospect list; 6 Padres make the cut

“Today ESPN’s Keith Law released his list of Top 100 Prospects in 2013. Six Padres made the cut, but only the catcher Hedges cracked the top 50.”

Astros Bud Norris is drawing trade interest – CBS Sports

“According to Rosenthal’s source, the Orioles, Padres and Cardinals all had interest in Norris at the winter meetings in December.”

Former Padre Micah Owings has a new team – MLBTR

“The Nationals announced that they signed Micah Owings to a minor league deal that includes an invitation to MLB Spring Training.”

Padres FanFest Information – The Friarhood

“Be at second base at 11:45 for a group photo.  Make sure you are on time, this is a rare opportunity to get a group shot on the field.  Let’s make the most of it.”
