As the Padres family has been delighted with the reassuring news that Tony Gwynn has had a succesful surgery on his cancerous tumors, the MLB family has been mourning the loss of another member. Hall of Famer Gary Carter lost his battle with cancer yesterday. “The Kid,” as he was known, suffered from multiple brain tumors that ultimately took his life at the young age of 57. It’s times like these when you realize how tight knit the baseball community is. The amount of posts and tweets from past and present players was astounding. Rest in peace Gary, and keep on smiling.
