The weekend is over, and with that so are the weekend spring training games. The Padres face the Cubs today over in Mesa. For those that made the pilgrimage out here, that means having to make the retreat back home too. However, no matter where you are today be sure to tune in to XTRA 1360 from 4-7 as Steve and Judson will be filling in for The Drive. You know how good the show is on its normal time, so I have it in under good authority that today’s will be just as great. In the meantime, here are your Padres links for today:

Dustin Moseley strong, gets a lot of defense in the win –
“Moseley, who will likely be the fifth starter in the Padres rotation, got double-play ground balls in the second, third, fourth and fifth innings. He allowed seven hits, no walks and struck out three.”

Padres believe pitching will be better than projected – Union Tribune
“And while Balsley has been ‘fooled both ways before’ by spring training pitching performances, he believes the Padres pitching is going to be better than originally projected.”

Moseley not fazed by tough 2011 season – NCT

The New York Times has an article on Padres hitting coach Phil Plantier
“Simplifying the swing, and eliminating clutter, was a struggle for Plantier as a player. Now, he said, the goal is for hitters to arrive in San Diego with well-developed swings that will translate to success in the majors. A modern version of the young Plantier would not be ideal.”
