Daily Friar 6.2.12

Daily Friar Banner Rennick

Two pieces of business we need to address. First off, we won! After a dismal road trip, the Padres returned home to put a hurtin’ on the Diamondbacks. We were actually able to put a crooked number on the board late in the game. That’s something we haven’t done all too often. The other piece is Johan Santana. Remember how nasty he was when we faced him last week? Yeah he only followed that up with a no hitter yesterday. This leaves the Padres as the only team without a no hitter. It’s bound to happen eventually, right? Well on that note here are your Padres links for today:

Bill Center of the Union Tribune has some draft information
“The Padres, of course, are keeping that list secret, although they have confirmed that Correa and Zimmer are on it. Likely so are right-handed pitchers Mark Appel and Kevin Gausman and catcher Mike Zunino.”

“Two groups in strong contention for the Padres are Peter O’Malley’s family —- which earlier this week joined forces with PGA Tour pro and Rancho Santa Fe resident Phil Mickelson —- and Legendary Pictures CEO Thomas Tull, who has Padres Hall of Famer Tony Gwynn in his corner, multiple sources have confirmed.”

Padres designate Jeff Suppan for assignment – MLBTR
“The Padres have designated right-hander Jeff Suppan for assignment, according to a team press release.
